I believe they need a no-bullshit kind of dude working at FORD. The new 500 is indeed incredible. But.... 1st, why not just put a 10 speed and offer a manual? The cost savings would have been huge in development and such. We all know there are many people frustrated already with the announcement of no manual.
2nd, who the hell approved the GTR or Mitsubishi blacked out bumper in the grill?
3rd, the dial shift knob! Really FORD? This isn't a Ferrari or exotic, never has been, not what we want.
Finally 4th, all this hype about 01-14-19! We had already seen pictures, we already knew over 700 hp, so really, we don't know much more than we knew before the OFFICIAL reveal. IDIOTS! 5 years we have been waiting, and now more waiting!

Sorry to vent my frustration. I don't believe they truly listen, nor care what we, the true enthusiast of MUSTANGS want.

First, neither the 10-speed nor the manual would have been able to match the performance of the DCT. Second, the engineers have been clear that the DCT is a more robust unit that the 10-speed auto. And third, not sure what economic theory you ascribe to but offering two transmission choices raises the cost of each by a significant amount over that of only offering one, even more so on a low volume vehicle such as the GT500.

The theory of having to source an expensive transmission is what it is. I bet that DCT is as expensive as a Tremec 6060 and 10R80 auto together. Pleasing all enthusiasts at the same time. I am not saying the DCT won't be amazing, just stating there are people who would have wanted a manual option also.

You sound just like the people who whined why the previous generation GT500 doesn't have an automatic.

This is unbelievable.

THIS CAR IS ****ING AMAZING, end of story. That's not a fan boy saying it, that's not a biased Ford fan saying it. This is coming from a Ford dealer who tracks a Viper ACR.

I've driven anything from 90hp Tempos to 1200hp drag cars, and everything in between. I've driven $200 junkers, to $600,000 Ferraris.

The 7-speed DCT is the PERFECT transmission for this car. With 700+ hp (speculation, 755hp) this car is going to kick ass. All the naysayers, go buy something else and leave this car for the guys who want one of the baddest cars on the road.

this.

Fan bois lately: This car better kill everything! Top of the line, cutting edge everything!
also them: DCT only? I dont care if a manual is slower and the 10spd is slower, I'd rather have those options

if it came with the 10spd auto and a manual option and lost some stupid magazine test everyone would be up in arms calling ford stupid for not putting a DCT in it.

85% of the people bitching about it probably can't afford one anyway.

You can't please everyone. For decades now Ford has catered their top dog Mustang to those interested in only one transmission. They are doing the same thing now only this time a different crowd is getting deference.

All three transmissions are expensive to develop. Cost for the 10-speed is being spread fairly wide. Ford has no 6 or 7 speed manual in current use in a RWD V8 passenger car that can handle the kind of power the GT500 puts out. Any transmission they decide upon has to be uniquely tailored to work in this specific application. Regardless of any of the three choices, cost for a given unit is going to be "expensive" due to the low volume nature of the car. So to your original statement - if you cut the production of one transmission type in half so that you can introduce another you raise the cost of each significantly, hence why Ford has chosen to stick with only one for all these years.

The sense that a DCT is always more expensive than say, an automatic, is not always necessarily true. While I suspect you won't, I suggest you read the following all the way to the end to gain a better understanding. There is much to be learned from it and you'll gain a better understanding as to manufacturing costs of manual, automatic, and DCT transmissions.

I'm curious to know out of all the people crying and bitching about the 7 speed DCT, how many have actually driven a quality DCT?

•The gt500 carbon is hyper muscle.
•Gt500 base is boulevard champion
Both of these are $70K+ and will be marketed to people who likely don’t buy manuals. Why build a $20 quadruple decker man burger (850hp manual only 3800lbs straightline oriented $59,999 car) for a market that wants a $25 premium double bacon Swiss with Avacado and fresh sides (the ~$70-85k 2020 gt500) ?

All of the following offer a manual or a 10a and are not only Affordible by but also in demand by their respective audience.

•gt350r is refined and safe exstacy mill. Dct may eventually become available in this package. Easy 11 second car at that point.
•gt350 is the gentleman’s daily sport car. Dct isn’t doable in this package at this price point so manual only.
•gt 10a is the drag racers starting point, bring on the bolt ons and boost. Manual is slower in this application so drag racers are buying autos. Check YouTube to catch the trend.
•gt pp2 is the sophisticated track rats weekend pride, leave it stock or carry on. Dct doesn’t work at that price point so no option but manual.
•gt pp1 manual is the budget track rats starting point. Rat it out of do what you’d like.
•bullitt is the working-thinking mans carnal release.
•gt 10a or manual is everyone’s guilty pleasure
•ecoboost is the up and comers attempt to be fun and conscious

Ford offers many ways to enjoy a manual.

We know a ton more. Did you know about the track pack? Brake size? Dct was only a rumor.
