That surprised me too when I watched it. It had less than 500 miles on it. I might have paid the same for it

That's crazy. That's not the same one that was posted on here a month or two ago was it?

I wonder what the 2000 R will go for in another 10-20 years.

Totally shocked at the amount as well!

It’s nice to see Rs pulling in big money though. There was an article on the 2000 Cobra R quite awhile ago discussing its collectibility and future value. The author said something along the lines of: “Don’t say I didn’t warn you when values of the 00R hit $250,000!”

Someone didn’t know what they were doing. I believe that is the highest price ever paid for a 93R. Nice car, but no f-in way would I pay anywhere near that for a 93R. I like the 00R way better. I would be ok with the 00R getting to $250K :)

not uncommon to see abnormally high bids at BJ scottsdale. the winning bidder flat out said on his instagram his limit was 85k but he didnt want the other guy to win. typical in the moment auction psych out.

I sold my first 93R in 2007 for 80K. At the time they were trending towards 100k. My car then was a 65-mile wrapper. The recession hit, and it’s been a slow climb back to pre-recession levels...Regular 93 Cobras under 7000 miles are selling in the 40’s+. So comparatively, with only 107 Rs vs almost 5000 Cobras produced, prices of the R approaching or exceeding 100,000 makes some sense.....Most of the R models have found permanent homes in collections and will not see the light of day again.....Other than a recession knocking the price down again, all of the R models will be appreciating in price....due to the low numbers made and their special niche in Mustang history.....

The history with pricing on the 93R is somewhat sorted. There was a time when the market for them appeared to have been manipulated driving the price up towards $100K, but then the bottom fell out of that scenario and prices fell back to $50’s. Prices stayed in the $50’s until very recently and within the last 3-4 years. Prices could be going up, but I think this one is clearly a situation where someone didn’t want to be beat out at an auction and simply had to have it and pounded his chest all the way to the finish line. Congrats to the Seller. He did VERY well.
