Where was that voice in the back of her mind that said, “Abort! This dude that weighs mire than twice what I do just launched me across the sidewalk with minimal effort. Do not engage.”?

I mean damn. Either fearless, or just naive and assumed he wouldn’t touch her?

A life devoid of consequences will get you that way.

I don't recommend punching a child, but in this case the man defended himself. The group of girls, for whatever reason, were not backing off.

The first assault was when the man was pushed.

Now the man has full reason to be on alert. No one knows if any of those children are armed with a weapon of any type.

The girl that appeared to shove the man stepped up again, and the man pushed her back to clear space.

The child retaliated with her hands up in an aggressive manner. The man acted defensively and removed the threat.

Open and closed case if you ask me.

When you get raised with the sense of entitlement and expect to get everything your way this is expected. I believe she thought I can do what ever I want and nothing will happen to me. Got a wake up call.

Is your wife like 90lbs or something and doesn't have ounce of muscle on her. A 4th grader doesn't possess enough strength to keep a grown woman from breaking free.
Think again. My sister in law is a 4th grade teacher. Two years ago one of her students headbutted her and broke her nose.

We live in a different world than what we grew up in.

If I saw a girl being abused by 15 other girls I would step in. I will gladly place my hands behind my back, accept the cuffs, quote my own Mirada rights, and head to the back seat of the nearest cruiser. I'm not going to let that type of abuse take place.

Each and every one of those children need to face charges, and their parents likely do as well.

I have two daughters, and they both know how to set aside their entitled princess tiara and throw a punch. They also know how to use any weapon in reach (rock, keys, etc) to insert into the closest eye, throat, artery, or groin as needed. They also understand that elbows and knees strike hard, and can take out an opponent. Hesitation is your enemy. Keep your eyes open and watch the body of the opponent to act accordingly (duck, block, faint, attack, and so on).

If you ask me, a little girl can be dangerous if taught and trained to defend one's self.

As much as I teach my kids self defense, I also teach them to walk away from trouble when possible. Walking away is not being a coward. Don't start any problems, and you will likely be fine. If you cannot walk away; WIN AT ALL COSTS.

Black people do not want white people interfering in theirn”problems”. Which means to me that they can kill each other all they want. Im not interfering and risking them turning on me or putting my family in danger

It's shit like this that makes me reconsider segregation.

Dude i came up in an area that was still “segregated” and lived down the road from an area that was nothing but white and it was next to a predominantly white area. You had dumbass hillbillies to deal with, but no MLK street type shit going on.

Edit: we were taught to stay out of black issues and let them deal with themselves and they did the same for us

That's headbutting not holding a woman's wrist tight enough she can't break free. I work with kids pre-k-12th grade. I'm fully aware of what kids are capable of these days. A 4th grader having enough strength to do that is highly unlikely. Which is why I asked if she was a small woman.

Although the kids were pricks, I don’t agree with the old man. He didn’t punch her in self defense, he punched her because he simply couldn’t control his emotions. My verdict is that punch was excessive.

did you watch the whole video or just the piece that showed the hit. Personally the fact that the group followed him and began to harass his family was reason enough for him to lay her out. there are numerous stories out there of older adults getting the shit beat out of them and more than one wound up dying. I am on the guys side 100% give the totality of the circumstances as told in the stories

I remember reading a book, compiled ~1850 years ago, following the life and teachings of a particularly nice guy. Perhaps you've heard of him? Jesus.

By his teaching, there was a road in the country of Samaria, that was well travelled by traders and country folk alike. It was known to be a place you got jumped, ambushed, robbed, raped, and generally an unhappy time. Everyone knew this. You only used this road if you absolutely had to.

One day a man was travelling this road in Samaria, and he came across a family in dire need of help. "TRAP" said his mind, because Samaritans were also known for being cold, calculating (good common sense) and generally untrusting. He helped anyway.

The story became the Parable of the Good Samaritan. "Good" because these people generally didn't get involved (for survival).

Why this story? Why here? Why now? Because this "MY town/country/world is going to crap/it never used to be this bad" mentality is based out of ignorance. It's always been a jungle out there. There have always been wars, and strife, and gangs. There has never been a Golden Age of Prosperity.

This man took justice into his own hands to help a stranger. His life will never be the same regardless of legal ramifications. Am I talking about the Samaritan of old? Or this new Samaritan?

CLIF Notes: Some of y'all need Jesus.

12 year old's can stab and pull a trigger just as well as an adult, and if you understood the propensity for violence these urban youth posses you would change your tune very quickly. In a situation like that, especially where this gang was following him and others, the only answer was violence, that is all they understand. You need to strike first, you need to strike with overwhelming force.. Notice the minute he protected himself everyone scattered.. Even the 12 year old who started this whole thing. Most of them probably have records, are on probation and or have reasons why they did not stay. They knew they were in the wrong, this dude is a hero, I wish I could shake his hand.

I get your point, but you need to reread that parable. There is a man in need of help, not a family. The Samaritain stepped up to the plate and cared for a man that was rejected by the so-called respected in society. Samaritains were not full Hebrew, and the Jewish people regarded them as dogs.

...and yes, some of these guys need Jesus.

Unpopular opinion: I wouldn't have put myself or my family in that situation. Tell me I'm what's wrong with the world or part of a bigger problem, but that initial girl would've just got her ass beat by the mob. No external body will tempt me into a situation where I lose everything I have from my family, to money or my freedom. F that. Not to mention all the consequences one pays after doing a good deed.

All around stupid and shitty case. 1 for both of those girls to start a fight in a place like that and 2. for that guy to initially try to breakup the fight and ending up laying out a girl and getting arrested.

Yet if it was your child that was moved out of harm's way you would be thankful.

Don't misunderstand me, I've been the helping hand, and in doing so have had to deal with an unsavory result. A good friend thought it was a great time to tell me no good deed goes unpunished.

What I did doesn't matter, and detracts from this topic. No, I didn't hit anyone.

I'm not going to back away from helping someone if I have the ability to help. If a person is being injured, or is in dire need of help, that person needs someone else in their life to step in.
