looking for something in 5.56 for screwing around and stay under 2k without any add on tac-ti-cool stuff

2 of my buddies have Daniels defense rifles but I’m open to suggestion

I have used/own a few different AR's. I would recommend Springfield Armory, FN, Colt, and Olympic Arms -used(pre-ban). Each of these can be purchased under your budget.

Whatever you get, mage sure it fits you. I can't tell you how many people I see at the range with rifles that don't fit them.

What are you looking at when you say it doesn’t fit them?

Thanks for all the suggestions, I’ll be researching for a bit

Primarily a good cheek weld and a proper length of pull. You want to be able to have your eyes closed, present your weapon, open them and have your eyes looking right down the sighting system. That might mean installing a stock that doesn't have the look you want. There are a ton of tutorials on the net.

BCM all day every day. They’re one of the biggest names in the AR15 game for a reason.

If you’re bored, read up on the BCM Filthy 14 rifle. Over 40,000 rounds without being stripped and cleaned. Just oiled. I have 4 BCM rifles (2 built by them and 2 built by me) that have all been more than reliable.

That said, any reputable manufacturer will be built well. The rifle has been around since 1956.

I've put 3-400 rounds through my $700 Ruger with a $60 Bushnell red dot. It shoots better than I can aim. Dead nuts out of the box at 75-100 yards. Not one jam.

+1 on Aero Precision and if you have the budget, BCM is top notch.

edit: Just make sure to budget in a good optic, iron sights are absolutely no fun to shoot. I highly suggest a good 1-8x scope. They are very versatile and fun in many situations.

I personally built my first AR with a bunch of Aero and BCM components. I chose to build my first to learn the platform and see where its weak points may be. Plus I got to customize it right from the get go.

Next is a .308 AR-10 build or try to build a custom bolt action rifle, I just need to find a good place to shoot long distances.

All depends on what your goals are and how much you are looking to spend. If you want to build it yourself then you can piece together everything that you actually want instead of buying a 1k+ AR and throwing shit on as you go AKA more cash.
There are three main areas that you don't want to skimp out on
1.) Barrel
2.) BCG
3.) Optic
Once you figure out those then the rest simply falls into place. If you have specific questions we all would be more then happy to help.

This all comes from someone that had the same thought process when I first got into the Pew Pew life and wish I had listened to the older salt's.

I'll definitely put a quality optic on it, I may opt for a night vision option as we're allowed to hunt coyotes at night. We're guestimating 6 or so based on trail cams. Again, I'm not trying to go top of the line but Im not gonna skimp either. I'm not opposed to building my own depending on potential cost savings, sometimes it's worth it to just buy it off the shelf and other times not so much

Don't follow this advice ;) Once you get a good barrel, bcg, and optic you're going to realize everything else is shit and before you know it you're transporting a rifle to the range that's worth more than the car it's in.

And if you can't tell, I'm joking. He's right. I'm serious about the snowball you're pushing down a hill by getting your first AR though. I started with the intention to build a cheap rifle and ended up blowing the budget on the barrel alone. I regret nothing.
