To the OP, unless you are planning on going to war with the weapon, there really isn't anything a $2k gun will do that $750 gun won't, and even then you'd probably be dead before you found out what that is. The market is so competitive and tight right now, yet most of the big names are still asking a premium for their guns when in all reality they aren't much if any better than the competitor. Buy what you want, just remember the gun doesn't make the operator better.

Sorry to hear of your health problems J, you've been around as long as I can remember. Have you considered listing it on the ODT since you're in Ga? It's probably the largest private firearms board in the US. I've bought/traded/sold almost every gun through there over the past 8.5 years since it's inception.

ODT? Please tell this old dummy what that is.

You can build a really nice rifle yourself for 2 grand. Once you fire a high end custom rifle you won't go back. Sounds like overkill for what you want though. Whatever you get, mage sure it fits you. I can't tell you how many people I see at the range with rifles that don't fit them.

I stand corrected. For some reason I thought DD was priced around what LWRC’s are.
LWRC, LMT, HK416 are at the top of the AR gas piston list.
If im spending around 2k on an AR it will be gas piston, not DI. Ask any Army or Marine infantry guy how they like cleaning DI guns. LOL

Yup, this. Unless you are competition/long range shooting or you just want bragging rights on the name brand or how much you spent.

No competition but my cousin and a friend have been setting up some targets at our place in the 300-500 yard range for fun.

looking for something in 5.56 for screwing around and stay under 2k without any add on tac-ti-cool stuff

2 of my buddies have Daniels defense rifles but I’m open to suggestion

I was in a similar position last year. I went with the American Defense Manufature UIC Mod 2. I've really enjoyed mine and they come loaded with good parts. You get a billet upper and lower, cerokated finish, ambidextrous controls, ambidextrous charging handle from RADIAN weapons, a BCM compensator, Criterion barrel, Magpul Pro iron sights and Scales. Just get a good sling and some mags.
It's a solid gun and comes under your price budget.

I think they are out of FL if I remember off the top of my head. I didn't want the cheapest ar, but I didn't want to spend more than I needed to.

Now I'm looking at a scope for it. I'm leaning towards a vortex viper which can be used as a red dot with no magnification or up to 6x magnification.

I really like my Armalite...but if I had 1500 to burn I would build a really nice rifle

I have about 1k into mine with the sights, handguard, and other stuff

Spikes is good but you are in the price range of DD. BCM (Bravo Company) is also a great choice also in the $1500-2000 range. Like i mentioned before Palmetto State is really good value for the money. It cost me around $700 to build and will tear up any ammo I feed it. Ive probably put 4000rnd through it with no failures and sometimes its hasn't been cleaned in a while. Most ar's in the $700-900 range will work well and last a long time.

Yes they are located in Apopka Fl. I got a Spikes in 5.45X39. As there is a reason for this if you think you are just going to take my rifle and use it against me. The first time you slam a 5.56 or .223 mag in and try to chamber a round is when you'll find out real quick you made a huge mistake with me as it'll jam and let you standing there with a surprised look on your face.

I realize they’re gas opposed to DI as I have three LWRC’s. I was simply stating that the last time I shopped DD (Albeit a while ago) I felt as though they were more expensive.
