What I have, still with its cherry is a S.S. M400 Enhanced. It does have some magpul toys on it and I bought it off a friend for a steal. What I had (just sold) was a Mini 14 (newer version with the improved accuracy) but it was just a poor man's AR when I thought about it.

Going to be hard to get into a Daniel Defense or LWRC for under $2K our the door brand new. That said, the pre-owned market has several right now. I would buy once and cry once.

Save up for the one you want instead of settling. It’s just like aftermarket car parts, or anything else in life. Quality hand fitted/made products cost more.

I have paid 1,400.00 out the door for my first Daniel Defense.

I will say that some people don't particularly care for the feel of the furniture on the Daniel Defense.

If you are just looking for something to screw around with then you can get a decent AR for 1k easily. Yes LWRC, DD, Noveske etc are all high quality rifles but if you are not overly concerned with having the highest quality, reliability, accuracy etc then don’t bother with the top name brands. Getting something that has good quality for cheaper and spend the rest on an optic and ammo.

Core rifles. They have an unlimited lifetime warranty and seem to be well built .556.

My second choice would be sig or dd. But hard to stay under $2k.
CORE15 RIFLES :: .223/5.56 :: CORE15® TAC IV Rifle
Warrenty:
Dear Core Rifle Owners,

A warranty. What else about a product says as much about how highly a maker values their own work? It’s a mark of integrity, an assurance that the person who built it believes in it enough to stand behind it. Lawyers, legalese and fine print have no place in it. And we feel ours both stands on its own and speaks for itself.

“The rifle you have just purchased has the simplest, most plainly written warranty you will ever read. This is no fine print. There are no exceptions. This CORE Rifle Systems firearm has been manufactured and assembled with painstaking care and precision by proud US Veterans, trained by the best there is. If anything is not up to your standard, accuracy included, if anything goes wrong, gets bent, broken, cracked, misaligned, tweaked, snapped or otherwise, simply contact one of our professionals and we will work to make it right. If you are the 5th owner and the rifle has seen 40k+ rounds, it simply… doesn’t… matter. We stand behind our products and we take care of our customers. That is our promise and your assurance.”

We encourage you to take advantage of Core’s legendary, industry leading Lifetime Unconditional Warranty should you experience any issues in the function of your rifle. We would like to emphasize the importance of a thoroughly clean rifle for maximum safe and reliable performance. A clean rifle is necessary to properly diagnose any issues the rifle may have. If you would like to have the Core Warranty Department clean your rifle before diagnoses of the issue, we will happily do so. The standard cleaning fee is $35.00, if the rifle has extensive carbon build up or corrosion additional fees may apply. If you would like to send your rifle in clean, you will avoid any cleaning fees. You can also check out our Common Issue Resolutions to keep from sending in your rifle unnecessarily.

That is the Core Difference. See. Shoot. Believe.

Feel free to contact us at: [email protected], anytime with any questions or suggestions.

I have NIB Bushmaster 14.5 barrel with Phantom flask tacked on. Bought when Obama got elected and it's sat in safe.
I also have NIB IWI Tavor .223 16 inche barrel but with receiver in stock- total rifle is about 25 inches long...Same for NIB Kel Tec RFB in 308 caliber...I will be listing on GunsAmerica as health problems prevent me from shooting.

As posted Daniels has multiple guns under 2k on their website. I will be buying a quality rifle but I’m not gonna be venturing into the 3k range.

Figured I’d buy now while there’s no crazy shit going on jacking the prices up

build one yourself, the experience can't be beat and you'll have a very high quality rifle for well under your budget

I’ll look into that as well, I’m just not well versed in them at the moment

To the OP, unless you are planning on going to war with the weapon, there really isn't anything a $2k gun will do that $750 gun won't, and even then you'd probably be dead before you found out what that is. The market is so competitive and tight right now, yet most of the big names are still asking a premium for their guns when in all reality they aren't much if any better than the competitor. Buy what you want, just remember the gun doesn't make the operator better.

Sorry to hear of your health problems J, you've been around as long as I can remember. Have you considered listing it on the ODT since you're in Ga? It's probably the largest private firearms board in the US. I've bought/traded/sold almost every gun through there over the past 8.5 years since it's inception.

I stand corrected. For some reason I thought DD was priced around what LWRC’s are.
