I see guys (F150 owners) complain about the rotary shifter all the time. Honestly it's the only way to have it. It frees up so much space in the console. I'm just gonna laugh when the F150's switch to the rotary shifter and all their owners talk about how great it is to have all that space freed up.

Once you get past it being "different", it really makes a lot of sense.

It's basically an extension of push button 4WD.

Did you drive one with the 3.21 or the 3.92s rear end? The 3.21 gears are underwhelming in city driving. Most trucks on the lots have it around me.

It was 3.21's Maybe next time I'll try the 3.92's but whats the mpg difference?

I see tons of ram people complain about it too. I just laugh, in a world of fly by wire shifters anyway I’ll take more space any day. Plus the rotary shifter in these trucks feels nice and crisp and is astetikally pleasing looking like a billet aluminum piece.

Looks great!

I have a touch under 2k miles on mine so far and am loving it. All I need to do is order the mopar hard tri fold bed cover and electric running boards and I’ll be set.

Since we’ve gotten the truck the Volvo now just sits in the garage as the truck fits us and the baby seat with much more room to spare lol.

As far as driving I got one with the 3.92 gearing so acceleration feels great. The 16mpg sucks but my hour and a half drive is actually comfortable now so it’s worth it.

My father likes the truck so much that after driving it he went out and traded his 14 platinum F150 for a ram limited. He had drove the 18 platinum to compare but liked the ram better.

Also one small tid bit is I love the rotary shifter being out of the way vs a center shifter set up. Room for my coffee with out it being in the way of anything finally, and the wireless phone charger is great to have.

Thanks!

It looks like the Mopar cover is the same as the Bakflip. I had the Bakflip MX4 on my F150 and loved it. I can get the MX4 a little cheaper than the Mopar cover too. I got the power steps on mine too. After having them on the F150 I had to have them on this one as well.

We had a rental Dodge with the rotary shifter at my work and it took me a little bit to get used to it. Now I agree with you, I really like it and love the extra space. I keep trying to find a place for my right hand though because after driving manuals all my life I would always rest it on the shifter when I drive. I'll get over it though lol.

They'll hurt the highway average, but then variables come into play. How fast you cruise on the hwy and what's your commute like. On the Ram forums I've seen some say they still get good mpg on the highway with 3.92s(18/19+) and others say they are stuck at 15mpg.

I have the 3.21s due to a lot of highway driving.
Stop and go traffic though it could use some more kick in the butt. Lately I've been turning on the tow/haul mode to make it feel like a sport mode in city driving. Keeps the Eco crap off too.

Yea I saw the mopar and BAKFlip were the same. I’ll go with the mopar since I work at a shop and get discounts through the dealer. I also want the bed divider after seeing it on my fathers ram it looks pretty handy.

Sometimes I can’t figure out where to put my hand out of habit but I’m getting used to it the more I drive.

3.92s I avg 16 mpg with most my driving being mixed highway rush traffic and open highway running 75-80mph

I get 18.5 with my 3.5 Ecoboost w 3.55's & the max tow package on average. That's around town, lots of hills, remote start, light towing (sub 6,000 lbs). On a 2400 mile road trip to Maine I got 21 mpg's. I did 80 mph+ on the highway and that was some off roading on the Golden road. But I will say I just did a 1300 mile round trip to NY towing a 7,000 lb trailer and averaged 9.7 mpg. Too much boost and not enough Eco.

I'd go with the Mopar too then! I was looking at the installation instructions for it and realized it was identical to the Bakflip I had. Just rebranded and it has the more glossy panels like the G2, but otherwise the same.

5 years after Ford blindsided the industry with an aluminum body (and ecoboost before that) the competition comes back with a really big display and a tail gate within a tail gate.

I think the hybrid F150 will be the next game changer.

The new 2020 Explorer hybrid police interceptor will put the FCAU Durango and Charger variants out of the game for good.
