One in a neutral color (white / black / gray) vs red or blue would work.

The things run, for sure.

And a 40k track weapon. Way more reasonable.

Performance wise, it's a great hot hatch. But the look......way too "flamboyant"

I guess Honda thinks all tuners are rice boys.

Has anybody called bullshit on Honda's claimed times? 7.43 is the same time as a 997 GT3 RS, C6 Z06 and 2 seconds off C6 ZR1 and 997 GT3.

I read in a forum that the Civic hit 166 mph on the straightaway, which is in league with a Carrera S, which is lighter, more aero, DCT, and has 100 more horsepower.

Honda must have been the same driving team that pushed the Demon to a 9.65.

I dont for a second doubt it. Those times you reference are old and before a lot of work was done on that track.

Why would anyone call bullshit when there are videos of the run available?

The last TypeR ran it in 7:50, I don't see why 7:43.8 is hard to believe given the clear improvements and the super sticky tires they apparently used. The last Type R had a top speed of 170mph.

Neither run was done in a production car. Which is why it is fishy that a 300 horse Civic is running with 911 turbos and C6zr1s

If those cars you quoted ran again today with a factory effort in perfect conditions they would all be faster. This is why I hate ring times.. They are often confused

I just wish Acura would put this drivetrain in a TLX and call it a type S.

And if you just want a quick Honda daily without all the boy racer additives and don't really care about the ability to properly carve corners, look at an Accord Sport 2.0T. Then throw a Hondata tune on it and have Type-R straight line power.

It's a 300whp car. The European version is conservatively rated at 316hp. The US cars are putting down 290-295hp at the wheels.

Besides the floating roll cage (and offsetting weight removed via rear seats and head unit) and the tires, what wasn't production about it?

Also, I imagine tire technology is also a big part of the difference between 10 year old ring times.

I don't think I could ever justify paying $37,000 for a Honda Civic!!!!

Have you seen new car prices lately? Ford sells, or sold, a $41K Focus. And a $100K truck. $36K for a limited production unit, albeit based on a car you see everyday, everywhere, really isn't that bad. Especially considering it's a legitimate track weapon.

I didn’t know they were that strong, wow.

Definitely underrated by Honda it appears.

well we have $50k+ Mustang GTs these days. Besides, MSRP for a Civic Type R with no options after destination is almost exactly the same as the MSRP for a base GT without options after destination. Back in the day, just a regular Civic Si was within $3000 of a Mustang GT base. Of course there is no way in hell I would pick a Type R over a base GT, but in terms of performance it's worth it IMO. I just personally can't do FWD, that styling, and a 4 cylinder exhaust note when it comes to performance cars
