What is this hose going to the firewall from the upper radiator hose?

2004 Ford Mustang Cobra | eBay

On picture 18, it shows the engine and you can see that there is a metal piece added to the upper coolant hose with an additional hose going back to the firewall (it seems). That's not stock....or it wasn't stock on the 2 Mystichromes I've owned.

Does anyone know what that is, or why he did it?

Too bad about the front plate bracket. A buddy got a fixit ticket for no front plate in San Francisco and had to mount it to get the violation signed off. Pricks.

Although honestly I don’t plan to EVER drive through that glue-trap for zombies. One never knows when the local gendarmes will start enforcing that.
