Rainy outside so I attempted to install the NRG steering hub & quick release along with the Ford Racing Sparco steering wheel

Steering wheel & air bag came out easily, but the clock spring wiring is something that has me a bit confused as there is no quick release tab or anything. Might have to follow the wires back to the closest harness to disconnect.

Also, the NRG hub does not fit into the steering column receiving end, so I’ll be contacting them tomorrow to discuss...

Realized I never posted final installation pics...

I could not be happier with this steering wheel. The smaller diameter makes it feel like the car is much more responsive and the alcantara just feels so nice. Can’t wait to get on track and really test it out

I’m have this exact setup on my racecar and it fits fine. Not real sure what the OP’s issue is.

So did you retain the clockspring on your install?
That was the OP`s original "issue." ....
He was trying to retain his clockspring....but he figured it out.

"Just got the clockspring off, had to follow the wires back to a connector harness. No need for the clockspring as this is primarily an open track/weekend driver."

Most, if not all quick release and/or extensions require removing the clockspring.
I be interested in knowing of one that is otherwise.

Additional and aside:
I managed to keep my oem steering wheel and my clockspring by using a momo adapter and hogging/drilling/filing out an oblong "port" for the clockspring connector to go through. Then drilled and modified my oem steering wheel to mount on the adapter. I actually extended the momo adapter with a sparco extender as well. I did this to match my extended seat mounts, along with a custom billet extended shift lever...

I can remove the steering wheel and adapter-extender as one piece.
I just use an extension to get to the steering wheel bolt.

It does look a bit funky though..but no worse than the old mopar steering columns..

Sorry I was more referring to the " the NRG hub does not fit into the steering column receiving end".

Was that due to the clockspring?

Yup.
I don`t know of a quick release or adapter that doesn`t need the clockspring removed.

The clockspring is "only" there for the airbag and the horn, which the new steering wheel doesnt have. There is a ring in the new hub to keep the electrical connection for the horn function should you install a steering wheel with a horn button.

Any posts or DIY to use the adapters or extenders and keep the clockspring (oem steering wheel, airbag and horn) function generally disappear from the net for insurance/liability reasons...otherwise I might do a diy..but there may be some product out there by now.

where did you buy the hub? I was going to buy from Amazon, but half of the reviews say it won't fit. Worries me a bit.
I'm overseas so returning if it doesn't fit is not a real option.

would appreciate a link to a good source.

Also, does the steering wheel sit closer to the driver with the quick release?
