If you are leaving the K member in I've found it easiest once the manifolds are off to jack up the engine and unbolt the motor mounts on the block and spin the mounts out of the way. Gives you room to get the header in place and to tighten the bolts. As per many other posts the drivers side is much more challenging than the passenger.

I'm glad you made this post. I'm getting ready to install ARH headers on my 08. Only videos I've found are on a 11-14 GT, and a 13-14 GT500. Also need to know if I can reuse the k member bolts or do I buy new OEM bolts. Do I need to buy OEM Ford header gaskets.

You can reuse the k member bolts. Oem gaskets are expensive. I bought cometic gaskets.

All of Fords suspension bolts are TTY (Torque to Yield) and are not recommended for reuse. Once tightened to torque spec they stretch.

This is good information. What do people use for the headers? Factory studs and nuts? I've read one may need to be cut possibly? What about the 02 sensors? Will I need to have extensions for the harness as well?

I'm about to put some headers on my 12 and haven't found that information yet

Yea I got prices on the k member bolts and those aren't as expensive so I can buy those, but what is the torque spec on the k member bolts, and the header bolts?

you wont be able to get a tq wrench on the header bolts but the k member bolts are 85 ft lbs

The studs are 106 in pounds and the nuts are 177 inch pounds for the exhaust.

How many bolts are needed for the k member? 6? 8?

4 bolts 4 nuts. @da5deuce I messed up its 4 bolts and 4 nuts.

To be honest I have reused my factory ones 4 or 5 times now. Did headers #1, then trans swap, then k member swap, then headers #2, and a power steering rack and pulling one side off for running the fuel lines. Im sure it would be better to get new ones but if you cant in time its not the end of the world. I randomly check them when I have the car on the lift and have not loosened yet.

That's not exactly correct. TTY is not the same thing as one time use. But most of Ford bolts are one time use. TTY is a method of tightening, like the procedure to tighten the balancer bolt. The one time use bolts are lightweight bolts that are likely stretched due to their torque specification. There's no reason you can't replace some of these with conventional 8.8 or 10.9 bolt and reuse them.

The best money you can spend on header fasteners is Stage-8, when installed properly they won't back out.

Just bought some of the Stage 8 header bolts and the package only had the bolts and no retainers. Are you supposed to buy those separately or are they just missing?

I just did headers last week........drop the k member........trust me.

I was able to get the passenger header 8n with the kmember in place, but the drivers side is so tight and you will have so much issues trying to get the drivers side motor mount.

I was nervous dropping the k member but it is quite simple and tons of room to do the headers.

Drop the k......

Sounds like somethings missing. Bolts, retainers and clips should be in the package.

I used the Stage 8's with Ford Racing shortys. No room to use the retainers so I used a small bit of blue Loctite as insurance.
