I was at their last live performance at Joe's Garage in Ft. Worth in 91. They were touring the Idolatry album. It was Malevolent Creation Ten Commandments tour also. Earlier in the year i got a limited vinyl of Idolatry with a yellow splattered vinyl. Next one to be released is the Signs of Life vinyl.

Killer stuff man.
The 80's and 90's were the best time for metal. After that,.............mehhhhhhh, not so much. lol

Earlier stuff from bands like Obituary, Pestilence, Morbid Angel, Kreator, and many others. So good.

Ignoring the lead singers issues, glad they are back together.
Their 2018 single is amazing. Can't wait for the new album(?).
I'll be honest, I haven't listened to anything after the FRAIL WORDS COLLAPSE album.

For the most part i agree. There are a few bands here and there that I like, but for the most part I go back to the "classics". I really cant stand the death core stuff.

I have most of Mastodon's catalog on vinyl. A buddy of mine used to own their practice space so I got hooked up with some stuff, and then Bill Kelliher himself frequently sells various pressings on eBay, which is funny.

I've had good luck with their catalog. I've bought some real shitbombs over the years. I have a rare pressing of Sunbather by Deafheaven and it's pretty much unlistenable. Ditto for a major FJM pressing, which is like "WTF how do you make and then ship this?" What are you gonna do...

Some surprising good new music coming from older bands I listen to. As Cities Burn is back together and has a new song out and MewithoutYou has a new album that is actually great! Probably the hardest stuff they have made since Catch For Us the Foxes.

Probably not a whole lot of listeners to those two bands but I know there are a few here.

Been listening to a lot of Porcupine Tree lately. I sometimes take a stroll over on the "Stoned Meadow of Doom" Youtube channel. Insanely good stuff from totally unheard of bands. The whole channel is full albums from various lesser-heard-of doom/stoner rock/metal bands.

No, I'm not a hipster. It's neat finding new, undiscovered music though.

I saw them back before that album was released, but the "bored" single was on WAAF. They opened for White Zombie/Pantera in Fitchburg(?) I think it was.
All I know is after experiencing their energy, and watching Chino crowd surf all night, I was hooked. I went home and bought that CD the very next day, and it will remain my favorite Deftones album by a long shot. I even have that very CD's cover autographed by the entire original band. (including Chi Cheng, RIP)

That's awesome!
That's definitely the best Deftones album in my opinion. I do like AROUND THE FUR as well. Some of the other stuff after that is okay. Some of it too slow and boring. lol

I agree wholeheartedly. Adrenaline sounds so raw, and the aggression on it is incredible. Always pumps me up.

Marily Manson - Portrait of an American Family is another gem from my high school days. Again, first and best album from MM as well.
