I don't use the service and never even knew it existed before last night, but for some reason it's blocking a SHIT ton of websites on my home network. Even some social media and non nude, SFW picture sites.

My research leads me to believe that because of a dynamic IP address system, I was given an IP that someone used previously in conjunction with OpenDNS. Well the ****ing thing follows IPs and not a physical device, so now I'm stuck with it until God knows when. I've submitted a support ticket at OpenDNS, but I've heard their response time is shitty.

I've created an account, assigned my network to their system and unblocked/unfiltered everything possible but to no avail. I've also tried manually assigning a DNS using Google's public system, but to no avail either. What do I do? What can I do? This is seriously frustrating!

3 things:

1. Drink

2. Find a good tilt stand or case for your phone. If you havent upgraded to an LTE network, now is the time do do so.

3. Proceed to fap in this diminished fashion until normal home internet service is restored.

Its all in God's hands now son...

LMAO! If porn were the biggest issue I wouldn't mind, your solution would work until I was reassigned another IP, but this is a little overbearing and keeping me from executing some work/fun tasks.

Call your provider and ask them to delete your DHCP reservation or assign you a new fixed IP.

Relate the problem to them and they should take care of the issue. If they don’t escalate to a manager.

Your lease on the IP address should expire after a given amount of time and usually with a router reconnect.

Log in to your router and renew the lease.

I just tried renewing, which did nothing, so then I tired releasing then renewing, and still nothing.

That's using routerlogin.net to access my Netgear C6300, if that helps.

Is it just that one computer or do you have another one you can try from?

Maybe a cell phone in airplane mode, but with wifi turned back on?

I could try from my Chromebook, but it seems very limited doing anything technical as far as having a control panel and granting access to stuff. However, the router stuff is online based, so maybe I'll have some luck.

I forced a reboot via the routerlogin.net page and it seemed to work at first as it disconnected internet and the whatnot, but now I can't access the routerlogin.net page anymore (says unavailable or unreachable or something like that) and OpenDNS is still blocking stuff. Maybe it's time to give TWC a call.

Fixed!

I ended up holding down the reset button on the back of my modem/router (it's a combo unit) and that did the trick. I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier instead of resetting it through the login page, but alas!

Nice!
That's like the only thing I know to do when my wifi goes out. Lol
