Ford rates the power at the motor. Ford does not rate the power at the wheels.

Im waiting to see some more videos on dyno stock for the 2018+ gen 2 2.7.
Duh, but the point remains that it physically put down 400 ft lbs of torque and ford notoriously underrates their motors. These are no secrets. My whole point is the 2018 and 2015 2.7s are 75 ft lbs apart. That is simply incredible. The article i posted earlier this page also explains how impressive the motor is, and it does this at 2750 rpm. Way sooner than the 5.0.

My honest assessment so far, this thing is stupid. I left my house Sunday at 6:30 for golf. 3 miles to the bigger road besides the neighborhood. Figured I hit to maybe blow it out a tad, and didn’t floor it. Regular mode, and was at 70 in no time. I’m not talking 8 seconds either, maybe 6-7. I actually have to use the cruise control in the neighborhood to maintain 40. This thing is nuts. Oh yeah, 24 MPG in town hand calculation.

My 2018 3.5TT had no problem with a 6.2L Raptor, after letting him take the hit. I will say that those big tires probably sap a lot of power and it was closer than I expected. The 3.5TT has impressed everyone I've given a ride to.

I drive about 25 miles each way to work, and set the cruise to 65. I get a solid 25 mpg each way. Then i can get on it and i swear this thing is sub 14 second runner. Of course if thats not the case, who cares. It is the best combo of fun to drive, purposeful pickup, qnd great on gas. Who could want anything more.

I've driven all flavors in both 2015s and 2018s and at the end of the day, i bought a used 2015 with the 2.7. I felt it offered the best compromise between cost, power and mpg. I will say though, while the dash shows that I consistently get 23mpg on my 100 mile daily commute, hand calculated average is 20.9mpg. This is a SCREW FX4 with factory 20" sport wheels.

If money wasn't a factor in my decision, I would of came home with a 2018 5.0. Mainly due to perceived reliability and sound.

The 2.7 is great on power, but they absolutely wear the hell out of timing components. When a fleet of Ford Tech's told me to not buy it, I said okay dokey, and bought the 18' 5.0 F150 10r80.

This thing straight up shits and gets. Sub 500 miles right now but with mixed driving, 19mpg. Which is better than my tacoma and will get better when the ECU gets out of break in mode.

We only have 1 dyno saying it does 395ft tq. I get that for you thats all the proof you need. But i for one want to see more 2018+ 2.7 dynos. People play with numbers all the time.

Although i agree that dynos can lie, the combination of what ford claims and the one dyno indicate that there is a major improvement over the 2015. Plus or minus 10 ft lbs to me would be in the noise relative to the point being made.

Theres no dought there are great improvements from the 15 to the 18. But 75tq to the wheels over the 15 seems like its too good to be true. I was expecting more of a 30-40tq gain. So untill i see some more dynos of the 2018 2.7 gen 2. I cant just take 1 dyno word for it.

Right behind you on that purchase. Currently selling my F250 and heading to a 17 or 18 F-150 5.0. Glad to hear you're happy with it.
