No need to get in trouble by actually buying something I can't afford. I live vicariously through Treynor (the ultimate car guy), as he allows us glimpses into his life.

Im not talking cant afford. Im talking cars that maybe just arent good, but you want or are maybe affordable but wildly impractical

An original Mini Cooper and/or an early 60’s VW bug. I’m weird, I know

Thats another attainable one. The delorean. I can afford it but I have no business owning one
The Delorean factory isn’t too far from my house in Houston. I’ll go spec one out for you

Hellcat charger. Reasonable price but not something very practical to have in New England.

Sold a '64 Corvette coupe so I could afford to go back to school. Loved that car. So, a few years after graduating it's time to replace it. I'm looking at a show home and a guy pulls up in my dream car of the time. '67 Vette 427 tri-power convertible. "Nice car", says I.

"Like it? It's about to go up for sale so I can build a house", he replies. Super low mileage, unbelievable price, totally original and he's the original owner. I get his card.

I talk to my girlfriend (now wife) and tell her I'm getting it. She reminds me we're about to build a house as well. Maybe something more reliable and with a warranty would be a wiser choice for financial stability. I pussy out and get something sensible instead.

Since then I've known it was meant to be my car. I've had ample chances to get one almost like it over the years but I realized I had no business owning one. I screwed it up so badly the first time that I have to punish myself. I simply don't deserve one.

Big thanks to this thread for dredging up that horrible memory. I had almost put it behind me....

I will go with a menacing old cop car, blues brothers style. The sort of thing I can run people off the road with and put my neighbors on notice.
