Because... we.. can.

The appeal? you mean the experience of a movie theatre.. without the random people.. without the the cell phones going off.. without the kids.. without the outside noise...

in a more comfortable chair

..yeah I dont see the appeal either

If your kids wont stay put... it doesnt matter what room they are in

also.. we so need a " technology " thread
Not true, when you have a 9 year old trying to do homework, and a 2 year old that's on the it's like a bitten snake. Trying to keep a 2 year old from going insane and having to keep their attention span going is like jerking off with a billow pad!

If you're a movie junkie, it makes sense. If you're just watching TV a lot, it's pointless.

I'm both, but until I find the house I truly want, I agree it's pointless. The TV I want I think is the best idea and then handing down a tv and wall mounting it till moving or just putting it on a stand until moving, painting the their rooms and wall mounting everything.

even if I didn't move in the next year I'm saving for the tv I want and new setup I want, I just hole saw for the cable and re-run the new sound bar and take my previous setup to my bedroom and sell my other tv.

Or my other Idea would to put my oldest tv into my office and setup everything for TV/Bloomberg and stream everything.

he put plants in front of his TV.

seems odd to come in and trash what someone else likes to do....hahahaha different strokes different folks.

Gotta say....all the theatre's I've ever been in, none of them were outside. *shrug*

Bruh..

You right..

Putting this plant in front.. made it so much better. More natural and wild life like

You assume a theater room is dark and dingy. When it can be complete the opposite.
The person I quoted said they had a room with no light coming inside. I don't like that. I get that you have a problem with differing opinions but it doesn't change the fact that some people don't like rooms dedicated as a home theater.

By natural setting I mean a normal room in a normal house. No black out curtains, no strange seating, just a normal living room.

I don't see the appeal of a movie theater in general, whether it be at home or otherwise. Some people like their houses dark and dingy with the blinds drawn all the time, I do not. The more natural light the better.
Here in Asheville, the movie theater experience has been ruined. Assigned seating. People now buy tickets days, weeks in advanced to reserve good seats. The days of waking up on a Saturday and going to see a flick are over. Youre lucky to get 2 seats together. And, it's like arline seating, the amount you pay depends on where you sit. Want the middle? Your going to pay twice as much. We no longer go to the movies.

Ha, when I sell my house eventually to move in with my GF i'm going 100, it's something I use daily and when you use it daily I tend to sacrifice a few more dollars.

That's my logic.

When it happens let us know what size television SHE allows you to get.

I hear it's the same here. Now that big screens are the norm and great sound systems are cheap most people I know opt to stay home. I'd rather float in the pool and watch a movie anyway.

Not to mention how much it costs for 2 people to go see a movie + drinks and popcorn. 60 to 100 bucks if you have kids. I have a good theater system in my living room, and another in the bedroom. Ill just stay home and buy jeep parts with saved money from not going to movies

The reason they pull that crap is because they are trying to keep revue up aside from the crappy concessions. Movie theatre's are about to become grave yards with sticky floors, bad food and crappy viewing and sound systems compared what you can pay for these days and get a better experience. The day will come soon when they will charge $30 a movie, or you have to use a camera to show everyone and it charges everyone in the room watching at the host.

I got so excited to set up my new 65 4k TV, Yamaha reciever, Polk towers/center/sub and supporting Klipsch sub... only for the first movie to be Turbo for my 3 year old. He loved it, so it was worth it, I suppose.

I need to find a couple surround speakers to complete my 5.2 system. Anybody have some guidance? Ceiling, wall, or stand mounting?
