Car that you'd like to own, but you have no business doing so?

By this I mean, you want this car, but perhaps they are tragic piles of shit. Maybe a new car you can afford, but will depreciate faster than dirty underwear.

Me? The AMG E55. Not really a good car. Expensive to maintain. But man I want one

Mine was an RS5. I wanted one real bad, but the price point for one I could afford reasonably pushed it down to ~2014 to 2015s. I didn't want to pick up a higher milage Audi and worry about the maintenance costs.

Thats why I got rid of my s4. I bought it new in 13, and a year later picked up a 110 mile commute. Didn't feel line dealing with the maintenance and pending depreciation.

RS7 - can't afford one unless they're too old. Plus, I really don't need a vehicle that big. But man, I'd like to have one.

Not really a car, but an RSV4 is still one of my dream motorcycles. Heard nothing but bad news about reliability, plus they depreciate worse than an Instagram model.

As for cars, at one time I thought about getting a new 201̶8̶ ̶1̶9̶ 20 GT500. Probably won't now.

McLaren 720S. I can’t find a fault with it. It’s incredible and beautiful. Shame it costs literally as much as my home.

Range Rover. I’ve always had a soft spot for them. Really good looking IMO. So freakin capable off-road. Shame they are one of the least reliable options on the market. Not to mention ungodly expensive when new. I’ll never buy it.

Ford F-450 King Ranch Edition. I just love that truck. Completely overkill for anything I’d ever tow, but I still would love to have it!

KTM 1190r. I love those bikes. Absolutely incredible. It’s just not in the cards right now. Plus I see so many people get hurt riding motorcycles, I just can’t convince myself it’s worth the risk.

I want another lightning even though the gas mileage is shit, plugs are a royal bitch to change, they don't wanna hold an alignment and at this point they're pretty slow outside of raping someone from a dig in a short race.

That being said they're just stupid fun

No need to get in trouble by actually buying something I can't afford. I live vicariously through Treynor (the ultimate car guy), as he allows us glimpses into his life.

They are pretty solid cars as long as you find a well kept one. The only thing to really worry about were the transmission cooler lines into the radiator, there is the potential for coolant to get into your transmission if the rad is leaking internally, which would of course do a real number on that trans. Many E55 guys run a separate cooler for the trans that mitigates that issue. Later E55s got an updated radiator that was supposed to eliminate the issue.
