Any way to get internet signal to the shop 150ft away?

I want to get my dad a TV (xmas gift) for his shop which is about 150ft away from the house so he can stream tv shows/sports.

Is there a wireless extender or ?? that can be used so the tv can connect to the internet from the house w/o running wire to the shop? The shop has steel siding which could also interfere with the a signal.

I'm guessing there's nothing reliable that can be done but I thought I would ask. Suggestions other than running wire to the shop?

You can try a WiFi puck. We use them in office buildings to extend signals. But the steel door as well as going through the main house wall as well as the shop wall is a concern.

I run a Cat 6 cable from the house router to the shop 500 feet away and then setup a wireless router in the shop as a bridge repeater. It gives me 4 wired ports and wireless at the shop with a $20 router. Been running it like this for 10 years.

The cleaner option is to look into a Mesh setup and do the same thing. This makes wireless switching cleaner if they overlap.

A quick google search and the best range extender thats nearly $300 has a range of 168 feet. I would think through the walls of the house and metal building it isn't going to stream well

Personally I think Id buy a spool of cat 6, some conduit and start digging. Run multiple pairs just in case.

The only other option that immediately comes to mind is a hotspot through your cell provider

Yes the walls will kill it. Hit up Monoprice.com and you can get prerun lengths for cheap. A nice narrow trench with conduit and run 2 or 3 pairs through it to the shop. Put a second router in the shop and be golden. Full strength in the shop plus able to plug a desktop in wired.

500 feet. Enough to run 2 maybe 3 runs.

Thnx Gents for all the suggestions! Running any type of cable would not be an option at this point so the desire (though it's a longshot) would be to do it wirelessly..

No digging. Hire an irrigation guy and pull a sprinkler sleeve from point A to B.

Look into powerline Ethernet adapters. They run on existing power lines. This might help assuming you have power to the shop fed from the house.

My father has the Apple WiFi extender for the shop at the lake. 40x70 steel/tin Shop, the house wifi box is easily 150ft away and the shop is literally 100ft higher in elevation, if that makes a difference. The extender lets you use WiFi through out the whole shop, and speed is not sacrificed. We needed it to run the nest camera’s.

Try some commercial grade components. I use UniFi gear at my house and in my business.

These are wonderful and preconfigured. All you do is mount them on each building so there is line of site and plug one end into your router and one into the device in the shop.
WTF, search for this on Amazon. "Ubiquiti NBE-M5-16 X 2 units 5GHz NanoBeam M5 16dBi Kit Complete Pre-Configured"

^this. Is the shop sub-fed from the house or vice-versa?

If you can't go powerline that's the way to go. I've said it before but the Ubiquiti hardware will make you realize just how terrible consumer wireless is. They make really good stuff.

I use two of the trendnet poe access points to get 300’ to our barn. I put a wifi router in the barn. We use wifi security cameras in the barn. If you have line of sight, there are several options.

I was gonna say, 150' is nothing for a directional antenna, several good suggestions already. You could go DIY with a pringle can antenna super cheap too!
