Anyone here ever do PRP Therapy?

I have been nursing a partial tear in my Common Extensor Tendon for about a year and have had no luck on healing. I do not want surgery and was thinking of inquiring about this.

Never done it, but as a Physical Therapist I’ve seen coin flip results. My suggestion find a surgeon that does a Tenex procedure. I’ve never seen one fail with epicondylitis.

I'm a physician that both does PRP injections and has personally treated my own 'tennis elbow' lateral epicondylitis with PRP.
I've also been trained on the Tenex procedure and I'd personally start with PRP.
I had a terrible golf season after a hockey injury and 2 weeks after PRP, my elbow felt as good as new.
Combine PRP with appropriate rest and therapy and I hope you'll do well.
I'd find it interesting to see how much you've been quoted for the procedure.
Sadly this and many very promising regenerative medicine procedures are called 'experimental' by your insurance company. They'll gladly pay for several corticosteroid injections when I can make a strong medical case for the benefits and superiority of PRP, but they'd prefer you to pay cash and deny the therapy.
Good luck.

I’m a PT also. Had PRP for a torn bicep tendon & rotator cuff. After rest & progressive stretching & rehab for 6 weeks I am back working out without limitations for the last 8 months. Gladly paid $500 out of pocket & avoided surgery

Never heard of PRP, great thread! Have some nagging injuries, torn bicep, tricep issues, would definitely like to try noninvasive options first.

Too bad this wasnt around 15-20 years ago. If it was, I never was introduced to it. Would have gladly tried this over the surgeries that I have had.

I’ve seen them done, know the concept, and have done research. The few times I’ve seen them done I never saw patients return so I never heard the after from them. I only helped cover a few weeks in the pain clinic that was doing them, one of Vanderbilt’s.

I’m fine with paying as long as I am not shelling out thousands.

A co-worker tripped over a skip at work about a month ago. He's a heavy dude and feel on his side/arm. He got up and his arm was instantly all black/blue/purple from his bicep to his forearm. As soon as I heard about it and saw it,.......I knew it was a torn bicep. He just had surgery on Wednesday. Going to be out another 3-4 months.

I have pulled the right one good and tore the left. All from over doing pull-ups, gotta start listening to this old mans body.
