Just got through cleaning leaves outa mine. Usually at least twice every fall.
My side yard has some massive oak trees. Metal roof, so yeah. Leaves & acorns blow on, slide right down.
I've seen several covers advertised, has anyone found a design that actually works well?
Open to suggestions here.
And no, cutting the trees down isn't an option.

I never put gutters on my house. Got told by a gutter installer that they really weren't worth the bother with all the mess and damage they do over time to the flashing.

Gutter Stuff. It is sold at Lowe's. It is actually cut pond filter. If you order direct they ship in a big box. I wish you were close, I would give you what you need. I have hundreds of 5" and 6"

Just looked at those online. Interesting. I've never seen that approach. Do they keep up during heavy downpours? Price is reasonable too.

Nothing, and I mean nothing stops pine needles. I had covers on mine and all they did was catch the needles. Large leaves would not have been a problem. And I had to have gutters. Without them the rain would flood the crawl space/basement. If you do not have them the water will mess up the foundation and eventually you get cracks. We had minor cracking and caught early.

Lucky you. I like the shade trees but they make a mess. A good Stihl leaf blower is a must, and works excellent on the decks & lawn. Wife even likes using it so I let her have it.

This will help you out until you get your gutter covers:

We have installed 1000's of feet of it for at least 8 years. No call backs. You can hold a piece under a tub faucet and it runs right through. The idea behind it is, leafs land and dry on top, then blow off during windy days.

Good concept. Makes perfect sense. I'll damn sure check it out.
Not that I can't clean gutters, because I do, but if I'm gone to work & they plug up, I'm risking basement seepage. More important, garage water breach, where the cars are!
Thanks for the info.

Hands down these ones below. 4.8 stars with 3700+ reviews. I've had mine for 2 years now. Zero issues and gutters are still spotless. I'm a big fan of the fine stainless mesh since it catches the grit from my asphalt shingles, which then blows off with the wind. I installed 125ft in a few hours myself.

You get much for hard rain there? Some have issues with water just washing over the top in the downpours we get

Just doing a quick search on it, there’s some pictures of the stuff with all kinds of crap growing out of it and looking pretty clogged up. Any input/advice on this?

My faucet at full blast goes right though the mesh. I've never had a problem. I'd imagine my limitation is my gutter itself for flow. However here in Rhode Island we don't get stupid heavy rainstorms like other parts of the country.

That could only happen from a heavy tree canopy over the house and zero maintenance. The product is made from pond filter material, and can be removed very easily and cleaned just like a sponge. If you are after a truly maintenance free, I would go with something like the old Gutter Helmet design.

Most covers do an excellent job of lifting the shingle edge just enough to have wind driven rain etc rot out your roof decking at the edge. Probably
Don’t notice because
It drains out of your soffit, which very well may be hardie and won’t rot.

Not a fan of any of them.

You can get little covers for just the downspouts that way when you clean gutters you don’t have to worry about in the downspouts angles.
