so I stripped the timing chain tensioner guide on the passenger side where the bolt goes into the head. The bolt itself is stretched as well. Looks a bit extreme for the minimal amount of strength I used to tighten it. I’m thinking it was on its way before I started this.

Do I just tap it ? Again it’s where the bolt holds the guide into the head. Thanks

You need to helicoil that hole, a proper helicoil and use the same size bolt as before.

Anyone have the specs of what size these bolts are? I’m finding most the bolts I have taken off this engine are not what the ford manual says

I’d appreciate it ! It’s been a debacle with this car lol

Builder gave me the wrong gasket set, said it was the right one. So I finished degreeing and dialing in my cams etc, put the supporting timing elements into place and go to put the front cover on and my gaskets don’t fit, so I’m thinking “what else isn’t right here” Come to find out.... WRONG HEAD GASKETS! so I had to pull all timing shit off and pull the heads, during the process the crank got turned and now I have to set it up again. All because another person didn’t do what they were supposed to do.

At least I don’t have to degree then again, just set them to there respective positions, use my hand made piston stop (kiss my as summit) attach my crank socket that doesn’t fit (thanks a lot comp cams) and bam, back in business. Until something else shits the bed lol

Metric M6 are all x 1. Thats 1mm per thread for the pitch. And the length is never inches if metric.

So you are looking for M6x1x20mm length? I can look at home later if I have my stock bolts easily accessible from my build. I went with all new hardware as much as possible.

It’s the top bolt for the passenger side upper tensioner guide.

Also when I had everything back together before I had to tear it all down again, I was turning the motor over with tensioners on and engaged, and the chains still had slop, they were sort of popping when I was rotating the engine. They didn’t seem to skip links at all but I don’t know if it’s something to be concesrned about
