when I was working at the shop, I dropped a factory OPG from my chest to the floor, and it broke into 3 pieces.

YIKES. ahahhaah

The factory OPGs are very hard, to the point of being brittle and dropping them would definitely 86 them. They don't do well with impacts, instantaneous changes in force...That's what breaks them in the motor. The rapid changes in force, example repeatedly hitting the limiter, or using a WOT box cause rapid acceleration/deceleration otherwise known as jerk and that breaks factory OPGs.

Because of how hard the stock piece is, it is very brittle and doesn't hold up to shock loading, which is what happens when an engine is spinning. This is essentially why there are dampening springs on a clutch (but I'm not going into that here....way too much to cover and I'm lazy)

Bottom line, the original piece was made to hold up for a long time against the chain wearing it out. It was not designed with large power adders in mind.
