Those are solid number man! Do you plan on turning it

It’s crazy timing you asked that as I’m sitting here watching YouTube racing videos and was researching 25-26 psi E85 2.9 Whipple setups.

Honestly though I think if I get to a point where I want to make more power the smart play is to sell the blower and switch to turbo. The gain from parasitic loss alone would make more power on lower boost and less strain on the lower end.

I’m also considering a 6r80 swap which would love a turbo...

I completely relate to the urge to go turbo for the same reasons but the whipples are just simple and easy to drive any day. I feel like turbo is when the switch is really made to a racecar.

I plan on my kill tune to be 26 PSI and see what it does

I’m interested in seeing what a 26psi tune would do. What compression you running?

Not sure what my custom cams gained, but I'm at 10.3 CR, 22 psi thru a 2.8h KB standard inlet on corn and made 785hp
702tq. I did degree the cams myself for every bit I could get out of it. For $ 250-300 it's worth the effort to degree cams. I used TF crank gears and cloyes cam gears. Takes time but worth it.

I need bigger injectors to turn it up more as I'm still on 80's at 90-94% duty cycle.

It's should be 9.2-9.3:1. What about you? Are you still stock compression?

Same, I have the 9.3 MMR 4.75 kit in a .020 oversize stuffed in a Teksid for a total displacement of 4.8.

That’s a solid setup. Sounds like some 105’s are in order.

What adjustable cam gears did you use? And where did you order them from? I can't seem to find the individual cam gear sprockets anywhere.

I bought my Trick Flow crank gear and cloyes cam gears from Summit and the cloyes keyways from Jegs. I just did this over the summer.

Cloyes cam gear is S790hp9, summit claims to not carry them anymore.

I shy'd away from Ford GT cams as they are very cheap that I have found and I would still need valve springs with them from what I understand. And at that point I may as well do a set of comp cams. Are the 96-98 cams that much better? And are those easy to come by?

I would not say that they are that much better but they are better. If you put a set of Ford GT/96-98 cobra cams in and degree them correctly you could see around 30rwhp depending on your other mods. Most of that is from correctly degreeing them. The benefits are stock like drivability and well under $1K for for the cams.

That seems worth it for a few hundred bucks. I found a set of 01 cobra cams for 125 bucks which seems like a low price even if it only added 10rwhp.

I'm trying to find the cloyes timing adjustable keyway cam gears but it almost looks as if they are not making them. The adjustable gears I am finding from other companies appear to be for the primary chain but no adjustable secondary chain tensioners out there.

You'll find varying information on the net but here are specs.

96-04 DOHC Cam Specs

The 96-98 cams have the most duration, but I've read on the Mach 1 sites that people see good gains with the 99-01 cams as well. If you're in there you might as well pick up some more duration for cheap.

Yeah. My engine is already apart as it is. I can't seem to find the cloyes adjustable timing gears anywhere anymore so short of spending a bunch of money for a timing kit through MMR I don't even know that I could degree them. Once again this was supposed to be a lower cost small upgrade. I might still pick up the 01 cobra cams as those still have quite a bit more duration than the stock 03/04 cams and just put them in using the factory timing gears. Even if it only gained 10-15rwhp. That seems worth the $125 and no extra labor.
