I have not run in a while because of a pretty messed up spine. Anyone know of these shoes?

I can’t speak to those shoes specifically but I have several damaged vertebrae from racing (and wrecking) dirt bikes when I was younger and the only shoes I can run in are Brooks GTS series and ASICS GT2000 series.

I’m not a marathoner or long-distance person but I do around 5-7 miles per week.

What exactly are your back issues? I can harass my physical therapy people to get their input for ya.

Do those shoes look gimmicky or worth a try? Hell of a steep price but I need to start moving more.

For that price I would look into a cheap bike to get moving around. Less stress on your back.

I don't have back issues, but I'm a stocky guy and I have wide feet. I've used Asics for years and really like them. I'm not a big runner either. Maybe 10ish miles a week depending on my motivation level.

That sitting and bending position kills me.

I ran competitively for about 15 years (5Ks, 10Ks, marathons) and learned along the way how to ensure I was fit properly for running shoes. The right shoes will help you prevent future injuries and will provide the most comfort for your feet. You want to ensure that you get the best running shoe for your needs, physical condition, running style, etc. So find a good running shoe store that has knowledgeable staff and devices to ensure you get the best shoe for your needs. Devices like 3-D foot scanners, treadmill with video, etc.

A good running shoe store will help ensure you get the proper/correct shoe.
FIRST, THEY LISTEN
Tell them about YOU. Are you running currently? Walking? What are your goals, your struggles, your limitations? There’s no such thing as too much information here and the more the store employee can discover, the better they can help!

SECOND, THEY SHOULD/WILL WATCH
To get the best assessment of your feet, they’ll scrutinize your every stance, stride and step from the ground level. They'll assess the biomechanics of your foot, and then recommend the best shoes specifically for you.

THIRD, THEY WILL ACT
Here’s where the rubber hits the road. Whether you try on a couple pairs of shoes or eight, the store staff should work with you to find that right match. They may also talk about socks or insoles they think might benefit you.

A good running shoe store will also have access to resources to treat and diagnose injuries, and provide recommendations for physical therapy and training you might need. In essence, a good store will ensure you get the best shoes and advice you need. So don't cheap out and buy a random running shoe that looks good or initially feels good. The right shoes are critical in avoiding new injuries or aggravating old injuries.

Lastly, learn what exercise routines will help strengthen your body for those runs. That includes knees, hips, leg muscles, and even your back.

Happy running!!

How about New Balance?
I don't run, but am on my feet 8 hours a day and am on my 4th pair now. I will not buy another pair of sneakers for work. I also have Plantar Fasciiatis and they work well. My current pair were pretty pricey, like almost 200 bucks expensive, but they are worth it. Plus, I hear that New Balance makes a good running sneaker.
Good luck!

As stated above go to a running store with a pro, and have them assess your gait and fit you with a shoe. Equally important are the inserts in the shoe. Get rid of the factory insert and add a power step insert. They are $30 a pair, but so worth it. Strengthen your core with core exercises and swimming.

You should be using an elliptical primarily, if the bike hurts you. Running any distance will likely hurt your back as well. Use a treadmill for running, because it has some shock absorption.

Back, knee, and ankle issues here. Best shoe I've used is definitely Brooks GTS but as others have said go to a real running store and get your running style looked at to see which is best for you.

not at my post...
I have primarily run ASICS, Mizuno, some Brooks. Everything else in my experience hasn’t come close to those 3 with regard to running comfort and shoe durability. I also have a separate pair of shoes for every day wear, don’t use my running shoes for anything other than running. When they are retired they become my daily drivers.

Dale, that is extensive (at least in my opinion). I'm surprised you are up and walking my friend.
