Has anyone else tried to achieve top speed in their stock 2013-2014 GT500? I'm very skeptical of the advertised 202 mph claim. There are a lot of factors involved (altitude, fuel quality, road surface, head wind, gradient, etc.). After 180 mph there's very little to no perceived acceleration so getting the extra 20+ mph even with several miles of straightaway seems unlikely to me. What have the rest of you seen for top speed?

I've done about 185 after about the 6 or 7th time driving the car. It had plenty left. There are videos of some people doing 200.

FWIW, I broke 170MPH in the Colorado Mile, with a DA of over 8K ft. A couple of us were fortunate to talk with professional driver Randy Pobst, who was racing a Porsche there, about his experience chasing 200MPH in a stock GT500 at the Chrysler Proving Grounds in AZ.

He recounted overcoming his own skepticism and a DA of over 5K ft to do 196MPH. As seen (at 11:45) in the linked video, he confirmed "this car is a 200MPH car," identifying the altitude, heat, and track length as the LIMFACs during his run. The only criticism of the car he shared with us was the stock shifter. (Many of us who've experienced similar difficulties with it solved the problem with an MGW upgrade.)

I've done 187 according to the GPS and with very basic mods when I had my 2013 GT500 heading out to Vegas, I only slowed down because of road conditions but it was still pulling good in 5th.

My "friend" took my Shelby out to the Horse Heaven Hills in southeastern Washington a few years ago and went right up to 170 in 4th, went into 5th and slowed down a little around 185, but was still accelerating before "he" had to lift. If there would been a couple of more miles of straight road the Shelby may have found top speed. I'm confident about 200 under the right conditions, not sure about any more.

200 at night is just crazy and that guy had a death wish. I lived in Germany and had an 09 M3 and my limit was 185 with clear blue skies. I don't know the top end of the M3 but She had more.

A stock M3 will do more than 200mph? I've never heard of that.

Why do you say he has a death wish because he did something that you can't do or that your scared to do?

Hey 351...if you think running at 200 at night on any public road is not crazy you might be a little off yourself?
My 09 M3 with 1,500 miles on it was dropped off at King Performance, Dusseldorf, Germany and after two weeks & many Euros later it was a bad bitch. Would it do 185? Yes. Would it do more? Yes. How fast? I don't know. Sold it when I was stationed at Altus AFB, OK in 2013 to prepare the way for my GT500. Wish I could have kept it but you know how that goes.
