While the 5.8 is no doubt 5.4 based, it undoubtedly had numerous tweaks made to the rotating assembly, block, heads, supercharger, oiling and cooling systems. It is indeed unique and would made for one hell of a GT350 were it to have been carried over...
That would have just made a hell of a gt500...

I hope that the "4-door" mustang is a wagon. That would just be too hot not to have as a DD for the wife.

Didn't say we were waiting for a "flagship mustang", said we were waiting that long for a GT500.

See the difference?
I’m not sure why?
The 13 had power and it was easy to make more. The 16 could carve corners. What more do you want?

In the past 5 years Ford has offered something for everyone. That’s all we can ask from any manufacturer.

I am worried going forward though....

Any 4 door Mustang would dilute its name a prestige. It would be a huge mistake.

Highly unlikely. I read an article yesterday where they were speculating it would be something along the lines of the Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera. Basically, the Evos concept is getting closer to becoming a reality.

If they come out with a four door I'm out. I agree it would be a huge mistake.

A door Mustang would not be a "real" Mustang. Sure, Porsche has an SUV and a 4 door sedan, but they are models under a manufacturered brand. A 4 door Mustang would be a trim level. Think 1971 Chevelle and the Chevelle Malibu 4 door. How about the 4 door Chevy Bell Air.

Hopefully Ford will keep the enthusiasts in mind, which is their target marketing area, and keep a pure Mustang.

I would hate to be able to say that the S550 is the last great Mustang. As it stands, the 2004 New Edge was the end of an era. Technology changed the game. There is nothing wrong with what was done, but the platform changed drastically.

I think a 4 door would become the death of the Mustang. You would think the design team would look back and learn from history and the Probe.

It's been mentioned several times in various articles.

The car is supposed to be mustang inspired, similar to how the Panamera is inspired by the 911.

Yeah,........that would be a mistake.
Although, the Charger is now a 4 door car and is pretty awesome. Especially the Daytona/392 cars and up, including the Hellcat Charger.

Besides being gone from 78-06 or that 5 year run as a front wheel drive hatchback...

I want a rwd performance sedan. Just don’t call it the Mustang. It would be a mistake.

Because the 13 didn't have the styling or technology updates that cars produced five years later have.

Wasn't whining, was simply stating the fact that some of us were waiting for the GT500. If I wanted a car for the track, quite frankly I would buy a Corvette, not a GT350. But alas, I like the street manners of past GT500's and hoping Ford sticks to those roots.
