Those cars are magnificent. There is always someone faster, but the driving experience is what I'm after. I'd be happy with one too
I agree with you, Todd. Sometimes we get too caught up with "numbers" and lose sight of the overall driving experience. Especially if we drive the car routinely. Some of the highest HP cars don't provide a high overall driving experience. They might provide a high adrenaline rush during that WOT freeway run, or at the track with the burst of power/torque, but I would bet many of us would prefer an overall driving experience. A good balanced package. So yeah, I can surely understand @1FASFKR saying that he's more happy with the driving experience he gets when driving his GT-350R. Honestly, if I had to choose between a 2019 GT-350 or a 2019 GT-500, I'd choose the GT-350. JMO.

Exactly. The R hugs the road with surgical precision steering but yet feels like you're driving on air. There's literally nothing like it. I feel like I'm Neo in it. I've not driven a Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. but the R has to be the most graceful assassin ever built in terms of handling at its price point. The exhaust note reminds you that the car still checks the brutally awesome category.

Anyway, enough of me shamelessly plugging the R in the GT500 thread. Carry on with yuge HP/TQ number talk and what should or shouldn't be enough of it.

What are the chances the weight comes in under 3900lbs?

Sucks when a HUGE car reveal is spoiled with shitty cell phone pics like this...really feel bad for all of the people and plans Ford had that have now been spoiled. That being said, the car looks cool. It's not OMG, WOW!!!! And I think that's because the GT350R had that effect on all of us years ago and now we are sort of used to this design.

The front feels like a huge miss. Simply because the racing stripes are broken up by way too much black. Looks more like an Audi front end than a Mustang.

Love the back spoiler.

Not digging the white stripe along the side of the car. Felt the GT350R's side just looks much sleeker and cleaner and somehow that sticker (albeit a GT500 tradition) just feels off here and tacked on just so differentiate the car vs it enhancing the looks.

Also the wheels look exactly the same as the GT350R's. They couldn't design a new pattern, really?

Overall, it is what we thought it would be. A beefed up GT350 with more power, more weight...and....WAY MORE MSRP coming soon! This will be 100K to get out the door.

If I bought one I would definitely do a stripe delete. That would probably help blend the front end a little better

What sucks is when you spend money on one car that has power and one car that can turn and Ford creates a car that has both! I’m guessing it’s base price will be lower than the $86k msrp of the demon too.

Sucks to be you!!

Usually, I don’t put a front license plate on my cars, but A large plate might help hide the horror of that maw. Too bad we can’t super size tags like we can every other ****ing thing in this country....

Done with the YUGE HP and TQ. Been there, done that, with the 14 GT500 and the HC. I'm kewl with a measley 526 in my R. It's Neo from matrix.

Me too. In the last Muscle Car Era, more power / faster was always on the table. Technology has changed the game. Driving experience is where it's at this time.

BTW, 1FASFKR, good call on the stripe delete; definitely the way to show off the R. Did the same on my LB.

Am I the only one that thinks this is fake?

It looks like there have been changes made to original picture, Look at the rear of the front wheel opening and the side stripe.
No Snake emblem visible behind the front wheel opening and no GT500 callout on the side stripe. Odd that the front grill Snake emblem appears to be blacked out.

I was mostly on board until 100k out the door.

This car loaded wont be close to 100, let alone the 65 or less base.

Do you really think Ford is going to price this car below mid 80s loaded? Add tax, ADM, you are looking at EASILY 100K out the door year one.

You don't get it man. No way a 4,200 pound GT500 will ever provide the handling characteristic of a 3,100 pound Type R.

But stripes are the main design element of a Shelby. I also feel like stripe delete cars lose value more faster.
