Tests were done with a 650 & 900 HP GT500's.

Don't wish for a forum "Oil Thread".....LOL.
Can I ask for opinions on this YouTube video?

I have 2 brand new 305x35x20 MT DR ET Street SS tires in my garage to be mounted in spring.
My OLD MT DR ET Streets are coming off...........
BUT.......May-Bee the the MT's should be swapped for Toyo's ?
Both are advertised as the soft "R Compound"....are the Toyo's really that good ?
I see advertised width ...assuming it's sidewall...on the Toyo's but could not find the footprint Tread Width.

Made me want to get some Toyos because I’ve been back and forth on which tire to buy because I have no traction with stock tires

I have been running the 305/35/20 R888R's for about 2-3K miles on my Hellcat and my only complaint is the Noise.

I also noticed a little harsher ride, probably because of the stiffer sidewall.

I think the dry traction is about the same as the Nitto 555R's I used to run and I have had no problems running them in the rain.

I hated the 555r. Could never get decent traction.

My r888's seem pretty noisy as well. They get worse with age and miles. Probably have 6-7k miles on them.

I have yet to watch but I've always felt Nitto makes the best street tire and MT the best track tire. As Toyo is the parent company of Nitto and I've been wanting to find a car to run R888s on.
I trust Bookys opinion, and without watching the video, I'll say it's a relevant topic.
Hey Book if the Hellcat is still in my DD bay next spring I'm thinking 285/35/20 and 305/35/20 R888Rs on some fresh 20x10/11s on the Charger.
The GT500 has graduated to full time MTs but the Hellcat may turn into a 2019 Ram and 2019 GT350. I miss shifting daily and I love our A8s. Good problems to have.

I don't think it's so much the HP amount as it is the TQ that's important to look at when selecting a tire.....

Drag Radials if shit being all thrown up on your paint and a wild free ride in the rain are your thing.....

Nittos run narrow, overpriced for what I want. I do run Nitto on my Rubicon and F150 because they are quiet and give a great ride

Toyos all day long.
Was out all day busting on mine aired down to 28psi. 650+RWTQ with 3:73s. They will LIGHTLY haze, than hook. And are good in the rain just in case
I run a 285/35 R888

Cliffs.
et street spun 1,2,3 after a massive burnout. Likely over heated the tires. 18” wheel
Toyo r888 hooked if he rolled into second, spun if he went all in. 20” wheel
Nittos, spun then hooked didn’t say in the comments what size wheel but looked like 20”

I would like to see how the 315/35/20 nto5r would stack up since they are only 612 right now for the pair vs 850 for the toyos

Watched this video the second it was uploaded. Still unsure. Lol

I'm just coming to terms that no tire is gonna make a stock suspension Mustang with 20" wheels hook at anything under 60 with 800+ torque. However, a tire like this (any of them really) is superior to the 555 G2 on my car now. A Boost Leash and ramping it in is always an option too.

Decisions decisions...

I have no experience with the Toyos, but have run the 555Rs and ET Streets. I’m surprised the MTs performed so poorly in this test.

My 555Rs hooked very well at around 650rwhp, but were breaking loose around 800rwhp. Switched to the Mickeys and I’m pretty satisfied with them. I can dead hook 2nd gear once they’ve got a little heat in them. IMO, they’re the better tire if all we’re talking about is traction.

I have a dumb question but I’m going to ask it anyway as I haven’t really found a concrete answer after searching through google and svtp. If im going to run a dr or anything of the like in the rear what is everyone running up front?
I’m in the process of getting tires as we speak and need help. Do I run nt05r all 4s or 555rs all around or are people doing 2 different sets of tires.
Not a DD just weekend cruiser.

No need to run DRs on all 4 corners unless you’re AWD. Just run a regular street tire on the fronts....MPSS, 555 G2s, etc.

I think you should add a Trackhawk to your stable.

I almost traded in the Hellcat on a used Trackhawk a couple weeks ago, but decided I did not want another car payment right now (Hellcat is paid off).
I think a 700+ hp AWD vehicle would be blast to run around town with.

I usually like matched front and rear, another reason to like Nitto.
My GT500 is NT05/05R equipped and the 315/35/20 is an awesome performer with 275/35/20 up front. The 315/40/18 would be a consideration for guys on 18s.
For a pleasure only car, never chance of rain I'd pick them. For more regular use or caught in rain occasionally, I'd recommend NT555/555Rs.
I truly DD my Hellcat on the 555Rs and getting ready to put on the V-rated snows :(

Good deal I'll text you soon about your Trackhawk experience. I went from a '12 ML63s AMG (same chassis as current Trackhawk) to the Charger because I prefer DD a sedan but a mildly modded Hellcat drivetrain may change that thought!
