Well after going online and ordering all my front headlamp housings and taillights and such next up to do is my Drivers Seat. I kind of want to get an order placed for one before I see the Credit Card statement come from my last order and than freak out ;). As well as have it to do for a winter project as I know the Lead times are awhile on Seat orders.

I am seeking any advice or reviews of anyone who has done TMI Seats or another vendor or maybe any advice on where to order the foam or seat Upholstery for a good value and maybe have a local guy do it if makes better financial sense.

It seems from many of the vendors you MUST buy both front seats and even some places the rears also come as the package.

In a perfect world I would just do the drivers seat as the upper bolster is very worn on my current seat, and the lower half is pretty worn too. I am OK doing both front seats but have about 0 interest to do the rears.

Who has replaced their Cobra front seats? Where buy from and why? How much did it run you?

The market for a used seat is priced so high I think I just want to have mine re done and I want to look Factory Original. Any advice you guys have or experience or research on the subject is welcome.

And Thank you to all who Reply I welcome all advice on this.

My $0.02. I would have both fronts done together so they match, as no matter how close you get the driver to look to original it will not match the passenger. If it was me i'd get it down at a local shop so they can try to match material to OEM. Once the two were done, I'd sell the skins on eBay as someone out there would want them (people put the passenger skin on the drivers). Interested to hearing what route you take. Good luck.

Have you tried calling TMI? I'm sure they'd set you up with just a front seat. If not, I'd look into getting both seats done if you can afford it, at the same time.

Maybe talk to your local upholstery shop and see what they can do.

I haven't called them yet. I was kind of curious if other vendors or ideas might be out there and if that was a way to go but TMI seems to be the only route for the original look.

I think I will just do both and bite the bullet. I will be happier when they are done and replaced. I hate the cost as I could do a lot of other things with the 1200 bucks but as soon as I order them and get them installed I won't think twice about the cost. And like the other post mentioned I can always sell my old passenger skin for a few bucks to help with the cost.

So i am getting closer to making the order. I did a lot more research today and I am tending to like the idea of ordering the 2 front seats from TMI. They are about 1100 for the skins and than an additional 200 for the Cobra Embroidery. Than i am going to order 1 foam for the drivers (I may just order both).

TMI had a thread on here with a lot of people who showed interest but never saw any final assembly pictures. Here is a link to the thread.

Huachipato- Looks good!! This is originally what I was thinking to do, but after thinking about it quite a bit I just am wanting to do new all together. I have no intention of selling the car ever and after considering it, I am just going to do new as I love the car and enjoy it and it will be a gift to myself.

Jose- thanks for the tip on selling the old passenger Skin. I may go this route to help offset my cost.

I will keep you guys posted on the process and how things go when the upholstery comes and all.

Thanks for the ideas and feedback!

So I bit the bullet and placed the order. Did the front and Rear from TMI as well as new bolt hardware kit and seat foams.

I have pretty much had unlimited overtime every weekend at work this year and was ready to spoil myself for working all the extra shifts.

When the delivery comes I will update and show pics as well as with the install process.

Pretty Pumped!!

Update

I received a shipping email with tracking for my new seats from tmi!!! They should be here around Halloween. Here is a pic of the seat foams that came a week after I ordered the seats.

I will post pics when the covers come.

Can’t wait! I am also looking to get some car paint work done over the winter as my bumpers look a little faded (same color torch red). Got an estimate for the whole car a few weeks ago and was a bit more than I thought it would be. So I went to another place that a guy I worked with recommended and was few hundred less but still north of what I want to pay. (First guy wanted 4K and second was 3600. Both said if I paid In money that folded it would be less).

Finally was home to sign for the seats this week here is what the drivers looks like. I will post more and probably install on Thanksgiving weekend unless I end up deciding I want to order a carpet kit while I have it all ripped apart.

The fabric looks the same as the oem but the Cobra is White on the original seat vs the TMI is black embroidery. See pictures.

More to come......

No update yet. I did order the carpet kit and a new shift knob and a few dash bevel parts that I am now waiting on. (LMR Black Fri sale)

My dad was in town for Thanksgiving and he has a boat on lake Washington that he now wants to sell so he can not worry of it in his retired Florida life...... So I ended up changing all the Fluids and such and is going to get it ready to put up for sale with him over the weekend. If anyone wants or knows someone looking to buy a 38 foot Tollycraft let me know ;). Finders fee for them....

I am now hoping to do the seats during my work Christmas Shut down. (Dec 20- Jan 2)

That's awesome you ordered some seat covers too! I hope you attach some Pics when they come in!

More to come

Well done. What did you use to attach the skins to the bottoms? Did you need to staple them at all? Are you going to do the back seat? Any info on the how to or any tips are greatly welcomed.

I paid my old neighbor 100 bucks to install them, so I’m not sure how exactly he installed them but I’ll ask.

As for the rear seat I’m leaving the original one as is, still in mint condition.

Got a new knob too. The lmr sve model it's pretty good. Looks very good to the original and much less $$.

I don't get how the shift knobs get so many dings in the face. I have had this car since new and I don't remember ever anything hitting it.

The sve for 35 bucks isn't bad. I had been looking on eBay and such and the original part from Ford is going for well over 150.00

Thought I would share
