Why don't you start a poll?
Because either way it’s not a definitive of which way I’ll go. I will ultimately get what ever I like most come test drive time. The wife still wants me to test drive a 250 as well so all this concern for mpg could fly right out the window pending on how test drives go lol

Well, from someone that has owned a lot of turbocharged vehicles over the years, I personally want one of the new F150 with the 5.0 in it.
We currently own a 2.0 turbo 2016 Ford Fusion and I love how it pulls with such a small engine but.....
If you look at Ford's history with the 5.0, it's basically a paint by numbers set. Pick want you want, buy the parts and it's proven to work. The new generation coyote sounds like a bulletproof engine with a set of Ford Performance billet oil pump gears.
When people start modding the turbo engines, the intercooler, piping, head studs, blow off valves, turbo and ....... all become possible weak points that need to be upgraded.
Look, I still have a unmodded [engine] 2011 Mustang GT Vert with only 21000 miles but knowing I could go crazy with it (if I wanted) is appealing.

I've driven both in multiple platforms. We own a 5.0 Coyote F150 and love it.

Ford Techs poll'd and overwhelmingly voted for the 5.0.

One of our fleet vehicles at work has the EB- fun to drive but the damn thing is always in the shop.

FWIW, my 2015 F250 gets 15-16mpg around town. It's bone stock still. I would imagine the newer trucks do a little better. On the highway I get 19-21. But then I only cruise at 75. I have a 21' boat and occasionally tow a car. My biggest issue when towing either of those is keeping it under 70. Including going over a mountain that goes from sea level to 4500ft between me and Lake Havasu. I'm usually passing people on that mountain because I forget I'm towing.

Most my driving is highway, I have a couple stretches that are bumper to bumper traffic but then it opens back up to 70-80 mph cruising. I’ve ready the 2017+ F-250 does better then the previous two years as well with fuel mileage.

I’ll definitely be test driving one along side the F-150 just to consider all options. The appeal of the 250 is more cabin space and more bed space, plus I think they look better then the 150. Only problem with the 250s is it seems they aren’t nearly as plentiful on dealer lots as the F-150 is so it would make finding one equipped how I want but still priced where I’d like to be more difficult.

Thankfully I’m not in a position where I must buy something so if I need to wait to find what I want be it 150 or 250 I surely will.

Here is where I am in that. I'm about to go to a F150. F250 all day if you tow often. Otherwise F150 with air bags and brake upgrade. I hate how my F250 rides around town. So damn bumpy. I tow the boat and car a total of maybe 10-12 times a year and it's usually a short 1 hour haul.

Yea that’s the one thing that draws me to the 150, also dollar for dollar I could get a more loaded truck as there are many 18s on dealer lots. I don’t see myself towing enough to need bags or brake upgrades. As it is I currently tow the tractor with my wife’s xc90 but it is dead at the max limit and i hate beating on that thing.

Yeah I understand. What I do love about my F250 is how composed it is towing. Rides great and no floating. That's why I'm interested in a bag setup.

Look into some new shocks. Mine was bumpy when I first bought it as well. Part of it is being the solid axles front and rear. But a new set of Bilsteins made a big difference. It also got rid of the floaty feeling in turns.

Honestly after towing with this truck I have a hard time going back to a gasser. But then I also in a few years the wife and I will be looking into toy haulers. So I wanted to be ready for that day.

I could be wrong but i thought the f150 and 250s now use the same cab?
I’ll definitely have to look into that, I’ve been in some new F-150 crew cabs and I felt they were smaller then the 250 but I’ve never compared the two side by side.

Edit- it appears they are the same cab. That really will play a role for the 250 even being considered or not. Ultimately test drives with the wife will determine the exact purchase.

I rode in a buddy's Ram 2500 and my F150 Crew is noticeably larger than his bigger truck. The 150 Cabs are huge.

the EB is a damn beast when tuned....the blow by is retarded so you NEED a dual catch can system... and the plugs need to be swaped out once a year ...other than that, solid motor with a good amount of HP .

To piggy back on this...
Are there any years to avoid with the 5.0 trucks?
I'm also a drive it into the ground owner and would be buying an older used truck. I have been looking at '15+ year model trucks for the EB, but haven't heard anything about what years on the V8.
