Love how they can track you and listen to you when you think all is private.

Then why are you posting on the internet? lol.

If you're worried about being tracked/listened too, then you're doing a really really bad job of it by posting on SVTp and using ANYTHING electronic. All laptops, phones, desk tops, you name it have microphones.

Get out of here with your KGB bologna.

Because I don't carry my computer around. Lol, guess you are one of those dolts that walk around like a cellslave. My wife goes nuts because I rarely carry my flip phone..

The watch you really want > many other watches.

Also:

1 "expensive" brand watch > many less expensive (still decent) brand watches.

Why?

The economic.
A Speedmaster has higher potential for increased value over time. And the past has proven this to be correct. Take a look at what they cost brand new 5 years ago and used today. I had an offer from a botique to buy a brand new Speedy for 26k SEK (roughly 3k USD) and today that's what a used one costs. That was 4 years ago.

The practical.
Seriously. 1 watch is enough.

The dream.
Speedmaster is what you've sought for. Not several other pieces. It's Speedmaster you want.

TL;DR
Get the Speedmaster.

I've myself worked around with many cheaper, and many more expensive watches. Hell, even AP's...
But I've settled for one of the prettiest watches I can afford. Rolex Submariner 116610LV (Hulk).
Fun story, 3-4 years ago I was offered to buy a used one for $5k. I hesitated, for weeks! Eventually turned it down.
Look at the prices of them today... (I bought it brand new for MSRP last year).

Still has GPS and a microphone soooo..

Have fun calling people on abacus old man lol
Of a device I rarely carry. I am way happier not being chained to such things. It is funny watching dumbasses walk into to shit and how they no longer talk to people around them. It is a world I am happy to observe and not be a part of.

Wait a year or year-and-a-half for the economy to go down again. Luxury watches aren't going to have the same value as they do today. over the long-term hardly any watches actually increase in value. Sure, Patek and limited editions by AP will. I highly doubt you'll see ceramic Daytona's going for double retail price during the next recession. On the other hand, you might still see used Nautilus is going for double retail new price. Just a difference between Patek and most everyone else

If you want to watch now, buy a used speedy. Probably won't go down in value too much. Also not going to increase in value. if you want new, I buy grey market over new from an authorized dealer or Omega Boutique. I've bought many watches over the years from chitownwatch. His watches are brand new and come with stamped warranty cards.

Oh i'm not disagreeing with you. Just giving you a hard time.

I manage multi million dollar accounts numbering in the 10-20 range. So i'm constantly answering emails and baby sitting. Smart phone is provided by work so just part of life to make the money I make. To each their own.

I gave up my smart phone after my 6 yo daughter asked while I was texting. Daddy am I more important than your phone. I wanted to toss that phone across the yard.

When I worked overseas I carried literally a pelican case full of phones and spare Simms. I had secure phones to talk to people in the region, then a separate one for people back in the us. As well as non secure phones for talking to locals. I am so glad not to have them leashed to me anymore.

Here's my thoughts. I was on the fence about a watch for a while. I feel like i've done well enough for myself to buy one.

Then I started looking around, the lady told me about the Apple Watch 4 and others so I looked at smart watches. My argument went as below:

500-1000 dollars for a watch that tells time
400 dollars for a watch that lets me send email, look at pictures, instagram, help with health monitoring, and make phone calls/texts

Yea, I'm wearing the apple watch. I just can't justify an Omega when all it does is tell me what time it is lol

Yep lol.

I have the Apple Watch as well and I wear it to work for the ease of access to calls or apps when I’m busy, but on the weekends you’ll generally see me wearing either a boutique automatic watch that I have or my breitling. They just are much nicer from an astetic standpoint.

I bought my watch strictly to use at work and it is extremely handy. Although, after the recent update last week, the battery has went to complete shit. I don't use it a bunch when I'm at work, just to text back and that's about it; battery went from lasting me over 14 hours to barely 8 now...

I wear my Apple Watch about 90% of the time. I like simplicity so I did buy myself a Daniel Wellington last summer to wear when I go out or have to dress up more than casually. I love it and have actually gotten a ton of compliments on it. I like the idea of watches and would love to have a few higher end ones, but not at this point in my life. The Omega is a badass piece though.

The guy next door retired as a LTC in Special Forces about a year and a half ago and he is the same way about being tied to a phone. All he wants to do is hunt, fish and ride his motorcycle. All and all, I have to admit I'm looking forward to chucking mine in the bay when I retire. Until then watches, phones, computers, tablets, etc dominate my life.
