Hey all,

I ordered an EFI fuel tank today for my 69 Cougar that has an 03 Cobra engine going in it . I mainly ordered it so I can get trunk panel fitment correct being that I’m not ready for fuel yet. However this got me thinking about what I’ll end up with as far as fuel supply.

1969-70 Ford Mustang Fuel Injection Tank

The tanks are designed for a single, return style pump. The company I ordered from uses Walbro pumps. Can anyone help me figure out which single pump will do the trick? I plan to make no more than 500-600 hp.

Any help would be appreciate as always.

You talking 500-600 at the tires? What type of fuel? If you are talking rwhp you should be looking at the big TI Auto pumps, that will be your best bet for single in-tank pump options. They recently released the 285 which is the pump used in the Demon.

I’m sorry, yeah, call it 500 at the tires. I’d like to stick with pump gas (93).

It looks like they offer a kit (“GPA-9”) with the 285 pump:

I see a lot of people using dual pumps, any reason why they don’t go single?? Forgive me if this is a dumb question.

People use dual pumps because they are exceeding the capacity of a single pump. For 500 to the tire on a single pump I would only choose the large TI pumps. You can run them with E85 as well.

Thanks for the clarification. Makes sense.
