Based off that thread, it looks like a 295 is pushing it IMO (stretched). Why are you wanting to move away from a 305? And exactly what car are we talking about?

I'm running a 20×11 wheel out back with a 315/35R20 NT05Rs. They fit perfect.

315 on an x11 is perfect. I did stretch a 335 on an x11 4-5 years ago haha. It poked a tad but looked ok, the 295 would be too skinny. I take it that this person is going bags or something.

What 295? Not all of them are the same width.

General rule of thumb is the tire is as wide, or .5" narrower than the wheel for performance and response.
