That blonde has a huge role to fill. I'm hoping she will gel with the rest of the cast. It is tough to change a character and keep the same personality with a different person.
I think the writers will find out how to use her positively in the show.

If we are being fair, why is it fine for this program to get political yet bad when others do it? Can't we have normal sitcoms staying free of any political ideology whether left or right? I understand it is symbolic and along the lines of being one for the good guys since every other program is left leaning but it's like people can not write programs free of politics.
I’m fairly certain (without looking back) that you disagreed with me on the James Gunn issue. More or less the same thing with applying standards. But regardless...sitcom is short for what? Situational Comedy. So with that in mind, how can you not have politics be a part of it?
Well how about when sitcoms were about families doing family things and everyone just enjoying them together as a family. I dont ever remember Family Matters, Married with Children, home improvement or others leaning one way or the other. It was all about good wholesome family fun and that is where it needs to go back.
Most of America doesn't know how to parent and look for role models on TV sitcoms unfortunately. I agree most of today's TV is crap. Good ole wholesome family TV is scarce and I think America could use a little of it instead of "reality" TV.
Most of Tim Allen's writers are liberal.

Hell I see most of them staring more at their phones than their own kids. I had Mom at home and my Dad worked. We lived a 100yrds from my grandparents my whole life. I consider myself fortunate to have role models that should me the right way to be a man. Hell unfortunately my own brother is more concerned with reality tv and social media than his own kids.
We only had one tv with the local channels so it was family sitcoms every night after we ate supper and everyone talked about the lessons the next day at school.
Thing is i could care less what their political beliefs are as long as they leave that crap at home

What does pedophilia have to do with political commentaries in sitcoms?
I can name you ten sitcoms from my childhood that did not explore politics on the level we see today. Now I wont say any of the shows I have in mind never touched on politics (who knows really) but the problem arises when politics is your first, best and only answer and that is the norm today. Don't get me wrong but I love when anyone sticks it to liberals. Their tears of anger and sorrow are joy to me. What I don't need is a political dissertation on what they find to be the ills of society.

Name the 10 sitcoms. You mentioned childhood shows like Jeff, but both of you seem to fail to realize those shows aired in a completely different environment. You don’t think those shows pushed the boundaries of the time?

Andy Griffith, Ozzie and Harriet, Beverly Hillbillies, Father Know Best, Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, Leave It to Beaver, Make Room for Daddy, My 3 Sons, Masrcus Welby MD. Yeah I am going back to childhood and the country was not a ME society that it is today. There were a lot more that had liberals in them but did not push their agenda like they do today. Heck even the tonight show with Johnny Carson did not push a agenda even tho he was a liberal.
Webster, Who's The Boss, Perfect Strangers, Head of the Class, It's A Living, Mr. Belvedere, Small Wonder, Growing Pains, The Facts of Life, Cheers, Coach, Saved By The Bell, Doogie Howser, The Golden Girls, etc.., I listed in excess of ten. Politics was alive and well in the 80's and 90's. The "cowboy" Reagan was in office and we just came off of a disastrous 70's with Carter and Nixon. Politics was in everyone's mind. It's never gone away. Now it seems to be the go-to topic when writing crap.
TV has always brought social divides into the limelight. Just so happens that the biggest social divide we have right now is politics.
I caught this one show in the middle the other night that the wife was trying out. Can't remember the name but the gist of it was this. Girl had a shotgun in her apartment. Roommate found out there was a gun in the place and flipped out. The two went out to shoot it so the one roommate would see it wasn't a bad thing. She hated it. Roommate that owned the gun had it melted down into a lamp for the other girl. W T F?!!!

A number of those shows pushed boundaries. What I’m saying about your childhood shows is that you didn’t understand the boundaries that were being pushed.
Not going to lie...I don’t know most those shows. But Earico hits the nail on the head for the point I was trying to make.
Society has many issues which can be perceived as harmful or detrimental going well beyond politics. The same issues from when I was a kid are still prevalent today yet you would think the only thing effecting society is right wing politics.
