I had BES Racing build my engine for way less than that! That was even with a set of cams.
O.P....yeah, it sucks, but just make the car right and enjoy it. If you think you have it bad, read @Corbic and his horror story, or you could read my thread I started about all the stuff I found wrong with my car.
Make it yours and move on. Then, enjoy it!

Nope, we've just been around the block a time or two with people who get upset about how something goes down. I would be too in your position, but don't get mad at the guys on the forum because this forum is the one that will bail you out when you are trying to figure out what is wrong with your Cobra.
This forum also tells you what to look for when purchasing a Cobra. There is a ton of useful information on here and plenty of people on here who will help you out in a pinch with trying to figure out a problem.
You gotta remember......this forum is an old forum and some of these members have years of membership on here. They've seen quite a few people in their time go through what you are going through.

You bought the 2004 Cobra for $14,500 US dollars.
You're longblock rebuild is in CAD. The labor to remove and install and reassemble accessories is in CAD. No, you're quote is not more than what you paid for the car.
Your whole story is clear as mud.
Longblock rebuild not too bad but a little on the high side.
Remove and install bad very bad. Do this yourself.
I had a built longblock that was built broken in on the dyno and the last power pull the transmission locked up in 2nd gear when it was at 6k rpms in 3rd gear while it was engine braking. 3 rods ripped from the pistons and windowed the block. I bought a new short block shop ate the labor and transmission guy helped me with labor and I bought parts. It sucked but I didn't come out here running my mouth in panic mode.

Wow craziness. I bought my cobra having a damaged rear door 12k, but I still bought it with an eye brow raised, and tore into it looking for more problems. But I wouldn't go this crazy online about someone. My last daily car, the kid who bought it blew it up on the way home and tried to blame me for it, so I can see both sides of this story. Just like everyone said nothing you can do now but decide on a path to keep it moving.
