So I didn't get any responses, but I finally got a day off and got the lights working. Basically the original issue was a bad stock Inverter.
The 05 speed hut Inverter didn't work at first because the First dude from speed hut that said I should just clip and short the pot was wrong. A call back and some trouble shooting and we figured out that it should be open. When it's shorted it only puts out 7.5vac. Not enough to turn on the lights "basically completely dimmed". With the circuit open, I measured 74.5vac with a 12Vdc source and the lights came on. So I put some heat shrink on the wires and reinstalled. Everything fits as described above and the dash dimmer switch works like it should. Hopefully this helps others with this same issue that have to use the 05 inverter.

I recently bought the 05 inverter and have tried wiring it in and it's not working now. Question on how you wired it up for it to work... From the stock inverter plugs, the green and blue wire together and hooked to the white and the black with the black. On the plug from the stock inverter with the two white wires, those two together hooked to the black & black w/ white dot wires (together) ? I also have the two wires from the dimmer switch cut and hooked together to form a loop?
Hoping you can give me insight to how you wired the 05 in to make sure I have it hooked in and my problem with my gauge lights is definitely something other than inverter...but I have a feeling I have mine wired in wrong to be honest.

Sorry for the delayed response, just saw your post. Sounds like you are wired correctly but had the same trouble I did with shorting the dimmer wires from the 05 inverter. Just cut and leave the wires open, then wrap them with heat shrink so they don't touch each other or ground out on anything. I used the image from a previous post to wire mine.
