Doesn’t seem like a terrible price especially from a dealer.

I would still have it inspected by a third party to make sure it wasn’t a race car at some point.

Price isn’t bad from a dealer considering mileage and it being CO. That said as stated have a 3rd party look it over do a compression test on your dime. If they don’t let walk. If the tests come back good and you like it scoop it up.

Now just to clarify, what do you mean by race car? Do you mean roll cage etc, or just to see if it’s been beat on?

Yes make sure it’s not hacked up and put back like stock condition. It would be pretty evident if things have been moved around and messed with

Not trying to scare you but do your homework to cover your ass since that’s a lot of scratch

This. If it checks out healthy, that's a good price from a dealer.
Heck he might even haggle some. The car looks clean. And they ain't making any more....

Have it checked out thoroughly and if you have any questions or see anything suspicious, no matter how trivial, ask here.

If the dealer is being fair on the price I see that as a red flag right away.

You guys recommend a ford shop or a local speed shop for an inspection. I intend to do a comp test and hopefully camera scope the cylinders if available.

I don’t take exception to that, but damn all that before 25k miles? I beat on cars in my younger days and didn’t do anywhere near that kinda damage.

Oh I forgot this too. It doesn’t have subframe connectors so if it’s been raped shouldn’t I see some stressed welds somewhere?

Thats the thing these cars are tough. That stuff doesnt all break under normal wear and tear on a low mileage car.

crazy.I paid that in 03..

so after taxes and crap 35k..

to me,that's a lot for a 5 owner car.

the repairs .
rear may have been for the cobra clunk. or gear whine..

head gaskets only..that's weird.
we have a head issue,I don't recall any gasket issue.

So here’s the latest. I can buy for 28k. I’ve got it lined up to go to Maximum Velocity in San Antonio for a top to bottom inspection (compression, leak down, bore scope if needed, ic pump, suspension, welds, stock vs AM parts inventory, undercarriage inspection, the works). We’ll see how it turns out. Thanks guys for all the help! The way I see it, I’d love to have a CO car and don’t plan to sell it. If the unforeseen happens I don’t see myself losing a lot, that is if it doesn’t implode once I get it home.

Race car...this was spot on! This car had some of hood shaved for a monster blower, had an ice tank in the back, upgraded fuel system, battery disconnect out the back, numerous paint repairs, holes cut all over, and more. The car was put back to stock and compression checked good though. Without the inspection none of this would’ve showed up. I can’t thank you guys enough for the advice, it really paid off. On with the search!!!
