8's, VMP Gen 3 TVS, Stock converter, 6 rib, upper only

So yesterday, I drove the car 2+ hours each way to the best track around, US41 Motorplex. Met up with some good friends and we threw down.

I ran an 8.94 @ 153 mph! To say I'm excited is an understatement. My ultimate 1/4 mile goal was to get in the 8's. #done! Now to focus on 1/8th mile.

Here are the basics:
JLT Super Big Air 148mm
Whipple 170mm big bore mono
VMP Gen 3 TVS (ported lower by Bret Barber)
6 rib, 69mm upper, Hasty Bracket, stock lower
Aluminator Gen 1 (stock heads/cams)
BBK 1-3/4" longtubes
Dynomax Race Bullets and turndowns
Stock, untouched converter
3720+lbs
Ignite Red

800' or a little more. It certainly does. The log shows that it short shifted the 1-2 pretty bad (800 rpms) and the other shifts 400 low. You sir, are a bad influence. Ha ha ha ha ha.

I bet it would have gone an 8.89 with all shifts on point. I'm happy though just to go 8's. No complaints whatsoever.

Do you have additional tension on the belt that drives the blower? Crazy you'd have enough traction to spin that big boy up enough for 8's on a 6rib set-up.

I replaced the tensioner with a billet unit that has a 20% stronger spring. Otherwise I have a blasted surface on my pulley, lots of belt wrap and clean pulleys.
