2 options both cheaper than a $5,000 KB kit that will leave you disappointed.

Browse around on modular classifieds on Facebook. People sell the Saleen series blowers all the time on there for a decent price. There’s another company too that makes one that isn’t torktech I see them a lot on Lincoln’s and crown vic’s but can’t remember their name.

Or

Swap a 5.4 in and piece together a lightning blower kit they are cheap I see them on the pages for $1,200 from blower to heat exchanger everything you need.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want a centri blower tho... I see used kits all the time for dirt cheap..

OP has a vortech on his 2 valve. OP is looking to put a PD blower in his sons 2 valve. Son must not like the gutless low end that a centri has.

The problem with the 5.4 option is it will stick out the hood.

The reason I'm leaning towards the PD supercharger is because I want to keep his rear gears stock. (At least for a few years after charger install) (not to mention that he likes the PD whine) A centri would need taller gears like 3.73's which is what mine has. The PD should add enough low rpm torque to overcome the stock gears and still give great acceleration from a stop while keeping the rpms low at highway speeds.

His car has a 2.5" cowl hood already so clearance shouldn't be an issue.

Speaking from some experience here

The tork tech kits are made in a garage and honestly, built like crap. Will it work? Yes, just be aware of what you're getting into. The castings were so rough and the aluminum adapters were so raw they still had the production ink on it from when the raw aluminum was produced. I vividly remember some of the edges of the lower intake manifold being so sharp they could cut you if you weren't careful.

The kit my friend ordered came damaged and the guy at tork tech tried convincing him to just pound the bends out and run it. The pulley was bent and the coolant crossover on the intake was very bent. My friend ended up getting the guy to replace the damaged parts, I'm sure the damaged parts were "fixed" and sold to someone else.

I wish I had photos to show of how f'd up it was but I have a feeling my friend deleted them off his smugmug, he has a habit of doing that when he wants to forget something existed.

In regards to the 2.1L kit, his father put that kit on his 01 cobra. I know we're talking 2v vs 4v here, but that car which was 100% factory (all the way down to the mufflers) made 460rwhp and 406rwtq @10psi with that 2.1L kit. As far as I know the only "issue" with this kit was the provided tune which IIRC may have been on a chip (this was back in like 2010). The kit included a big sheet saying "do not dyno tune this car!!!", meanwhile the supplied tune made the car run like absolute crap. His father had the car tuned by Jannetty Racing in CT and the car hasn't had any issues in the 8 years that kit has been on.
