Starter? Battery is good (swapped it and same issue) Could it be anything else? It doesn't turn over at all, it just sits there, no clicking, nothing.

Dealer wants $700 to fix.

With what you described I wonder how they came up with that figure amount. A tow and diagnostic ?.

I would start at checking fuses with what you had described.

$700 to fix what? What did they say the problem was or are they just throwing random numbers at you?

What is the back round on the car, daily driver, weekend cruiser or garage queen? What was the time interval between start and no start? What was the last maintenance/modification you did for the car? Without knowing what is wrong with the car, a dealer throwing out a $700 estimate is a big WTF?

is theft light flashing?

starter..very common.
if you try tapping on starter.you may get it to fire..

battery terminals and grounds off battery,,loose/dirty.

also..being a stick, car can be push started..this will confirm it's starter vs something else causing it.

starter is easy to replace..should be under a 200 dollar repair.

I went with life time replacement..

highly suggest you have them test starter before you leave with it.
ask for at least 3 test..

I have had issues on rebuilts

200k miles, was daily driver until 2 years ago.

I took it there today because i forgot i asked this question here...been so busy with life.

thanks for responses though, guys!
I'll let you know what it was. The estimate when i got there was only $550 now...i'm guess if it is the starter, its a standard part, as he didn't have it, and said he'd have it tomorrow, whereas when i called, he said he had it.

Every time i get the car fixed I wonder which part is actually special for it. LOL

200K miles! You're definitely near the top of the Terminator Most Miles list. Definitely update the thread with the solution and actual price if it changes.

Holy Geebus, 200K miles? At that point, things on the car just wear out or fail. What else have you repaired/replaced on the car?

What hasn't been replaced/repaired, might be a shorter list.

Why - these cars are built like tanks. I have almost 200k on mine and all I've replaced is throw out bearing 3x and rear pinion seal once. Everything else is still original, even the clutch (and i'm ported/pullied/intake/exhaust/tune)

I'm double yours,,and still feel repairs aren't more than basic wear items.

tob, rear ,head seam to be most common repairs.

I'm actually amazed as to how much stuff these low mileage cars have changed vs mine.

Did you check the 50amp fuse?

Also check the ground. It has to be super tight or you will get nada... mine did exactly that.

Possibly clutch safety switch. Something could be keeping the pedal from going all the way down (floor mat, small rock, debris etc) or the switch could be bad (less likely)

5 clutches (3 under warranty)

2x Radiators

Valve cover leak under warranty

Water pump

I just replaced driver side door insert due to wear and ugliness. The steering wheel is really faded (Mystichrome), so i'll be hopefully looking for a lucky OEM one on eBay soon.

I think that's it.

Haven't seen the bill, but he says its $550ish. He didn't finish it today, he said he needed more time. Said he has to disconnect the exhaust to get to the starter.

what type of exhaust do you have,
I don't recall anyone else saying exhaust was in way.

I have long tubes and starter still clears.

I did mine in pep boys parking lot with 2 wheels on curb no jack needed
takes minutes..
