I change mine whenever the Oil Life meter tells me. As I am not racking up 7500mi between changes it is pretty much every 6 months (October & April).
So I am doing basically 2 changes/year with MC 5W-50...

On my 2010 Taurus I am more like 3-4/year, but that's due to the almost 30000mi/year on that vehicle (7500miles interval). I also do change that oil when the oil life meter tells me to.

I’d suggest a used oil analysis. Very affordable and can tell you a lot about your engine and potentially tell you a better oil change schedule.

Drove 2014 off the showroom floor from Snellville, GA in August 2014. That was roughly 200 miles. Added a few miles and changed the oil. Depending on how and where I drive, I try to change the oil around 5k and have noticed I've went a whole year before changing one time. I'm rocking roughly 23k now and have only changed it 5 times.

Ha...must have bought it from D&D Ford, I grew up with the owners.

Next time I drive to Folly Beach to visit family I will PM you. I usually go to a car show on James Island with some locals there as well. Would be nice to see your Shelby.

If y'all wouldn't mind another Shelby at the car show, send me a PM as well. I'm only bout a 2 hour drive away and drive my Shelby that way from time to time. Would be nice to have 3, maybe 4 of the same side by side by side

Picked mine up Jan 6th, 2013 with 6 miles on the clock. I just turned over 14k. I run Royal Purple XPR 20W50 and it gets changed approximately every 1k miles since I run E85 and its does sit for protracted periods of time.

The oil changes aren't cheap. But clean fuel and clean oil are the easiest ways to keep modern engines running for a long time.

I used to do that but it's actually better to change right before you store it; better to sit in storage with clean oil than dirty.
First heat cycle in spring conditions the clean oil and drive all summer if mileage fits.

I always wondered that too. I figured all it is doing is sitting in the pan over the winter. Or is it the initial startup come spring time?

Thought process is that clean oil sitting is fine and the first heat cycle conditions it and burns off any impurities.
Makes sense to me and I'll take the engineers advice.
