I would like to get away from sling as even on Roku it can be a little buggy but when I checked a few months ago Hulu and Youtube were both missing a couple channels the wife watches so sling it is for now

Regarding the chromecast, you just need your own wireless router inside the one they give you. Disable wireless on the ISP one, and connect everything to your wifi router. Not surprising really, if its their equipment they can do what they want unfortunately.

PSVUE here, has been perfect for 2? years. No streaming issues, practically unlimited recording for 28 days, 5 people can stream at the same time, 60 FPS sports, can log in into independent broadcasting apps (ESPN, HBO, etc)

Tried DTV Now, not a fan of it. Very clunky, slower buffering, weak DVR, etc. I will say though it has more channels but most of those to me are useless.

I have yet to tried YTTV yet.

I have a Fire TV2 box and Fire TV 3 pendant.

Dont forget that all of your local TV stations are available terrestrially (an antenna). And the picture quality is BEYOND INCREDIBLE as its HD without any compression.

Im about to get a TIVO OTA to play with. There are no TIVO fees with this model. Offers many streaming services too integrated into one box, and of course its also a DVR.

Just opened Terrarium and a notice popped up. It will be gone for good at the end of September. Damnit! Now I need to find another app. I really liked Terrarium.

IMO any bugs are far outweighed by the expensive price tag for DTV on a few television sets in a home. My cable internet is quite fast (triple digits) so the only bugs I have encountered would be the channel changing on its own back to a previous channel and it has done that a few times. For $10/month I can easily look past it. Actually Bob, it does have DVR. Yes it is cloud based 20 hr DVR but it is DVR. Maybe I'll try it tonight and see if it works better than a rudimentary version. Something trivial I enjoy is how the channels are in alphabetical order rather than numerical!
That's good that a cloud based DVR option is available, even if it's only 20 hours. There will likely be better DVR options coming soon. Have you had any issues with HD channels/content not always playing in HD? That's honestly my main concern with Internet streaming options.

I just installed Kodi. PITA in comparison.

Yeah and it’s always getting blown up too. I have used Kodi and it’s variants in the past. I am going to start using my plex server more for the time being. I hoping someone hacks the Terrarium app and makes an ad free version that works.

I'm using Vue, I like it.
Very friendly on an Amazon fire remote
But a bit clunky on my 4k Sony Bravia running Android.
The DVR works well, aside for the fact it dosen't let me record my local news cast
Nice to he able to hop on the news at work.
Passengers enjoy it on trips too.

Look for a way to set the charter modem into a "passthrough mode", then hook up a real router that will treat their all in one as just a modem. I've had great luck with the Netgear R7000 "Nighthawk", and I've recommended it to a dozen people who love thiers. That's on Cox, At&t, time Warner, CenturyLink, comcast, and eagle internet.

I've been setting up stores in Denver and dealing with CenturyLinks all in one gateways and sonicwalls... they hide passthrough deep in that modem/access point...

Terrarium is no more. Totally shut down.

Good night sweet prince.

Wow. I loved that app. Nothing really compares to it.

Now, I guess we wait for the next one stop shop app to hit the market that is similar to Terrarium TV. I doubt anything else will compare.

May have to use the other thread to learn how to setup a server and use some add-ons to scrub and download the content I want and stream them using Kodi.

What I have watched looks, imo, better than using the actual box but then again my boxes have to be 2-3 years old if it matters. If there ever exists a deterioration it is not noticeable but my speed is very fast so that does factor into the equation. Price aside, this is a better way to watch television compared with using the satellite counterpart. DTV touts itself as being the most reliable. Maybe when it is nice out but when it rains or snows, I lose signal often. With this way, no worries. Overall it feels more responsive.

I've been thinking about cutting the coord with Comcast. DirectTV Now looks like a solid choice, in terms of package options and pricing. I have 3 little girls, so cartoons is a must. No Discovery Channel or History channel, forgot which, was a deal break for me with Sling. Anyone using or have any comments on DirectTV Now?

The DTV Now app sucks ass. I would look into PS VUE, don’t have to own a PlayStation either, it’s available on multiple streaming devices.
