Used Turbo Kits? Compound boost?

I know most will disagree, but what are the pros and cons to buying a used turbo kit? I'm looking at buying a used Hellion Hellraiser kit. I've always wanted a TT cobra, and this kit allows for the stock supercharger and K member. It looks like a pretty straight forward install as well. It seems like a great kit, especially for the money. Also, since it is already being used currently, my thoughts are that the kinks have been ironed out. That being said, what are your thoughts?

I heard that tuning isn’t the funnest, but why do you say it’s a headache? I wouldn’t mind going without the supercharger, but that seems to be more work also. I’d need an intake, and a new alternator, and a timing cover as well right? I’m new to the turbo world and I’ve fantasized about the idea of having a turbo cobra but I want the path of least resistance. At least out of the gate. For example, I’d avoid the need for the intake, k member, and a used kit provides me with peace of mind that it actually works. I’d be ok with a TVS (or any twin screw for that matter honestly), but a CO TT coupe was the dream when I bought mine.

I have only seen one guy actually pull it off and the drama he went thru tuning it with low and high impedance injectors wasn't fun. u can only push so much air in. I would do the TT but not with the blower.

If it was such a popular and great idea everyone would be doing it. The fact is virtually no one is doing it.

The fact is with todays Turbo's and how fast they spool up its just not necessary but hey id like to see u try it and be successful cause id like to see what kinda power u make so go for it just know there is a reason so few ppl try it.

in the end ur car will not be any faster. mite come on a little quicker but ur overall HP/TQ will be less then if u went TT alone. The main purpose of the Compound setup is superior low-end power not peak horsepower.

I understand that it’s unnecessary in the modern turbo world and that it won’t result in any more power or anything. I’m not a racer so I don’t plan on chasing any numbers, I just want a bad street car. My main concern is whether or not I can find someone capable of tuning it properly. Do you know any of the information for the guy who runs his car on a compound set up?

You still need a tube k for the hellraiser. You'd have less cost in switching over to a 99/01 Cobra or Mach intake after selling your eaton swap setup.

Contact Smashedheadcat. At least I think that's his name. He ran a turbo kit with very minimal changes. I think he kept the pulley bridge and rerouted the belt.
