Speaking of VIR, I was at the races last weekend. (Had a freakin' BLAST! If you ever get the chance to go to the races at VIR, DO IT. I could write a page about the fun I had and the experiences. I think I had a grin on my face the entire weekend, Friday thru Sunday.) I got to do a ride along in a GT350R on the road course in the middle of the track. All I can say is WOW! And it didn't even have the Sport Cup 2 tires on. It was wearing the standard GT350 wheels and tires. The driver said he was super impressed with the car because the other cars there (Lexus RC-F, C6 Corvette (Z06?), and something else) kept having to come in and cool down. He said he had been lapping the R all day without a cool down. I saw one of the RC-F's come in with its front brakes nearly on fire. Smoke was literally billowing out from them when he stopped. The R looked like it was completely unbothered by all the lapping. And he wasn't taking it easy, either. He even did a mid-corner shift that didn't upset it one iota. I can't wait to get mine on track!

On top of what? The number those cars actually run don't really reflect the power they make when compared to cars with HALF the horsepower.

This car is a total joke. It's official release date is the following: THE DAY AFTER YOU DIE

A home run? Nah. More like a double play and YOU'RE OUT. Demon POWNS this thing.

Ban this **** already.

I would like to see a more aggressive wing on it..

Although at this point I am all but convinced that there will be two variants.

The joke is your demon! If the demon was any good at all we would not see you here. The funny part is you paid 130+ for the demon and you then buy a civic. Ouch...

2011-2018, time between Porsche’s top 911. And you are crying about a three year wait?

Double play and you're out? Demon powns this thing? LOL. You really need to hold off statements like that until the GT-500 is actually released. Just sayin! o_O
Even I'm sick of him. He just got 2 weeks for being a troll.

Finally a credible thread. Honestly 740 would be a disappointment now the Red-eye has been announced with 797. 770 should be minimum to be considered impressive. Clearly the power to weight ratio will be much better on the GT500.

I know that Eaton has lighter weight blowers available with magnesium rotors. Will be interesting to see if CF wheels are offered. I see curb weight coming in just under 4000 lbs. I wouldn't be opposed to a sole offering of 7-speed DCT. Pushing in on the clutch over sectioned concrete at 150+ to shift into 5th was unnerving in my 2014 due to unsettling the suspension, but maybe the magneto shocks and IRS would solve that.

I don't wth is going on at Ford. They're one step above junk-bond status now. Too much emphasis and investment on electrification and autonomy but they're super slow in rolling out this technology in their production vehicles. Now being hurt by Brexit and the trade war with China. And 7-years between GT500s, lacking in RWD configurations for their vehicle lineup, and genuinely disinterested in exciting driving vehicles. Major leadership crisis at the Blue Oval...

Honestly, I'd like to see them move away from using magnetic shocks. That system is heavy compared to a traditional strut/shock system. I'd actually prefer they followed suit with the Z28 and ZL1 1LE and use a Multimatic setup, at least on an R/KR version. Save the magnetic stuff for the base car. I'd bet a base GT350R with a regular suspension would come in right under 3600 lbs.

I for one hope he keeps making those statements and Ford somehow reads them and responds with something truly bad ass. Been waiting for the new GT500....

The story of the release of the 20XX GT500 reads like an Agatha Christy mystery novel but we will know how it ends next year one way or another. The car is fighting a lot of head winds as the end of production of the S550 platform will only allow for 1 - 2 years at best before they have to start over with the S650 plus they have some big shoes to fill having only 5.2 liters to work with. On the business end their stock is tanking, they stopped producing passenger cars, have directed all their resources developing EV and autonomous vehicles. On a car expected to have very low production numbers maybe only a few 1000 with a cost approaching 100K getting the bean counters to sign-off on the production order must make for some "lively discussions" in the Boardroom. A GT500 is not going to pull customers into the showroom to bolster their hybrid car sales the "halo" effect by then will have largely gone "poof!"

I'm keeping my fingers crossed Ford practically invented the blown V8 and the GT350 will only take you so far and doesn't have that level of crushing torque all bottled-up and on tap at a stoplight. I'm curious on what Ford has in store for us in the S650 platform it's going to have a battery bay integrated into the chassis which will likely be under the rear seats or the floor board. The base car will undoubtedly be 4 cylinder hybrid maybe smaller than the 2.3 as it would be augmented by the electric motor. Given the direction Ford is headed I'm not overly optimistic on their commitment to the V8 passenger car engine I think the mod motor/Coyote based mills will be the last holdout before the Ford V8 goes extinct! :( Where is John Colletti when you need him?

While I'm not a big fan of level of sophistication in todays performance cars and gasp at the sight of paddle shifters, Bluetooth connectivity, large display with menu driven commands I do like the S550 it's a badass looking car that's begging for a blower. I wonder if Ford has actually signed-off on the production once that happens there is no stopping it. I bet the Russians know they could leak it to the NYT!

Ford did not stop production of cars.

They have stopped production of cars in the United States only, they still produce and sell cars all over the world. In the USA we prefer trucks and suv’s, Chrysler also noticed this trend about 3 years ago and canned everything but muscle cars, much like ford is doing.

I paid 130K for my DEMON? My sticker price was $86,000. Which is what the new GT500 is going to cost. I paid MSRP too.

And look, the Type R is amazing car too. Drive one then make fun of it. More alive in your hands than any current Mustang.

I’m not laughing at the car. Laughing at you. The $100k after taxes dodge you purchased is not good enough you had to buy the civic. Even after the civic purchase you are still seeking the gt500, makes me wonder...

That doesn’t even make sense.

Are you saying all the cars Jay Leno owns are garbage?

Buying for collection and buying to drive is different.

Kaneda spends all his time here crapping in Ford then he says how good the demon is. He then says how good the civic is. My question to you is, if the demon was so good(as good as he says it is), why did he need to buy the civic, and why is he still here complaining that Ford is late with their next Shelby?

If I was happy with my car purchase I’d be out driving not looking for other cars to buy.

Do you realize how vastly different the ITR is from a Muscle car?

Your logic is horribly flawed.

Why buy a muscle car if you don’t want to drive it? All while blasting Ford for not having a 1000hp mustang that turns like a GT3RS that costs $50k in 2016?

Demon is a sweet car go drive it and stop complaining Ford is late!
