Detroit... Bitch
1. Don't ever let that mechanic touch your car again... ever

2. Probably need a new tuner, send us your datalog I have livelink

As far as readiness flags... I've learned ALOT about this as I tried to legit smog my car here in CA. Have you looked to see which ones are ready and which ones aren't?

From my experience you will NEVER get the catalyst to run... ever. I started with not being able to get the EGR to run either even though it's installed and enabled in the tune, eventually I found out it wouldn't run the test unless I plugged my FPDM back in and faked it out with a resistor to think it was running pumps (I have a return style fuel system). After that tho I could NEVER get it to run the catalyst, many have had the same issue. My rear O2s were enabled and everything, but there are certain parameters that must be met (which ford will NOT share, assholes). I discussed this on the various forums and I found one other guy with the same issue and it appeared going to a stock MAF was the only way to get it to run. My guess is the ECU looks for a certain airflow # to run the catalyst checks, and since any aftermarket MAF requires you to scale the numbers it'll never run.

This is all assuming your tuner has all the proper things turned on in your tune (adaptive learning, rear 02 sensors, catalyst temp corrections etc etc etc). Your best bet is to just turn the readiness tests off, when scanned they will just say N/A... if your smog guy asks just play dumb :).

I suggest contacting Malcolmv8 for a remote tune, I don't know if he loves these kind of cases but he's good and fixing the problem.

So thought I caught a break. The car recently threw out both the P0190 code for lean bank 2 and also P0193 for Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor. I ended up replacing the sensor and went back out to data log. Unfortunately same result. Car starts to lean out as RPMs built almost from 4,000 rpm and by the time you get to 6,000 RPM the fuel rail pressure falls down to 15psi

Understand but where do I start. We have gone through the entire fuel system. Flow tested the pumps, tested two different FPDM’s, replaced the fuel filter, new Fuel rail pressure sensor. I mean the only other option I see it s to go return style, but with my kids I shouldn’t have to.

Any suggestions?

Did you run/tap a new pair 12ga wires to the hat for the 340lph pumps? If not, you may have too much draw from those pumps and the stock wires won't support that amperage. (reason I sold my modified fpdm and went dual fpdm, 340's here also)

At this point, many go return style...

No, i did not run new wires to the pump, I believe just to the FPDM. Would anything in the data log show me that. I think you are right, have to balance how much trouble shooting to do, vs. just getting teh budget return system. I just wish I coudl use my pumps in teh return system....apparently i can't

If you're staying returnless, have black306 make you a dual fpdm harness w/relay for the 2nd pump and run that pair of 12ga to the hat.

Could be something completely different in the tune also, I'm no tuner lol

Correct, he can provide everything to work. Some threaded rod and nuts, double stack the fpdm's in stock location

Interesting as I still have the stock one as well. Just wish I could confirm this is indeed the issue. I just don't think anything in the data log would confirm this issue.

I had fuel issues tuning at first too. Without going return, I followed 04sleeper's setup and his old cobra is still running strong now 10yrs later

oh really, we could take offline, or if you don't mind, would really appreciate a quick convo to understand your set-up and what you went through.

How did you flow test the pumps? I had a similar issue when I tried to run a pair of AEM 320E's in my car. They worked for about one tank of gas. Everything was fine at part throttle. As soon as I punched it I could watch the fuel pressure drop like a rock. Went back to my GT pumps and all is good. I think one of the AEM's died. Further research showed they weren't as friendly to a returnless set up as I had originally thought.
