JLT Driver’s side oil separator question

I was able to pickup a passenger and driver side JLT 3.0 oil separators for my gt350 and had the following question.

I know a lot of people are saying that the driver side is not necessary but I’m wondering if there are any negatives to installing this considering the limited benefit. Are there any concerns with crankcase pressures due to any inherent air flow restrictions in having this installed?

Any comments are appreciated.

The driver side is not necessary, but it won't hurt anything if you install one. I put a driver side separator on mine just for looks: it fills in the open space on that side and it matches the beautiful passenger side separator.

I would add that the passenger side collects enough oil to need draining every now and then, but the driver side doesn't seem to have ever collected even a single drop.

Thanks for the responses Rael.

The driver’s should not have any oil in it unless you have serious blow-by inside the engine creating an over pressure the passenger side can’t ventilate.
It won’t hurt anything to install it. But if you ever find oil in it, there is probably something wrong inside the engine.

Fully Agree 100%. I will not have another high revving car without it. Especially with boost. I have one on my R and after just 1 or 2 short spirited drives it has oil in mine (only pass side) Just got one for my Raptor too.

I went ahead and installed on both sides and yes I see some oil collected on the passenger side. Driver side is bone dry as others have also mentioned. Thanks for the reply.

It’s still worth having for peace of mind. I have both on mine and only residue on the driver side but it’s not like I am going to remove it at this point. I’ve heard other oils burn less but collect more in the separators. I plan on switching to AMSoil on my next change so I will be keeping an eye on this
