Good morning! I'm very new to svt performance. I have been presented today to purchase a 1999 cobra Mustang convertible red on black leather with 74K miles, adult ownro, clean title, certificate of authenticity, zero issues, no accidents, bone stock, everything works eyc...It's a true beauty and I've negotiated a price of $6,000 cash (I am in the market for just a GT, but this caught my eye) I just don't know what these are valued at. Thank you!!

***The only picture posted on Craigslist was the attached photo (certificate of authenticity)*** I'm looking at it this afternoon, just going off of what I was told.

Here's the only picture thus far... certificate of authenticity. I'll post pictures when I see it. Just wanted an idea before arriving if it's a good deal or not. It is bone stock, elderly owned from Florida, and not able to drive anymore based on health issues (manual transmission... obviously lol)

Definitely make that purchase, the car will only gain in value as a GT will take much longer to do the same. Advise on the body, I don't know where you are located but look at the rear of the rear wheel wells right behind the tires and you will see a square rubber block suspended there on each side. Check behind these for rust, especially if the quarters are rusted out. Also lift the carper mat in the trunk that covers the spare tire and look on each side about 4 inches past the spare tire opening for signs of rust. Then turn the front tires sharp to the left then right and when the tire is pointed in at the front, look in at the rear of the tire at the bottom of the strut tower where the tower is attached to the unibody frame section and check for rust there. Also check the bottom of the radiator cradle for rust and being bent or beaten in from running into parking lot cement blocks and finally, make sure to check the rear "torque boxes" where the rear lower control arms attach since these rust out first on the convertibles. I hope this helps?

That's a HUGE help! I am in Vermont (salty roads) but the Mustang lived in Florida until two years ago where it's been garaged winters and hardly driving in the summer. I will absolutely look at those places! Thank you!

Thank you! I'll make sure it matches for sure. He originally wanted 8900 for it, but he only posted a small add on Craigslist with the one picture as he isn't computer literate lol. It's like it fell through the cracks, and because convertible season is ending here in New England, 6K was his acceptance on price so he doesn't have to store itvanoit a winter. I'm curious if I buy it and post on eBay, I should be sbla to get 8-9K? Unless I fall in love and drive it, then I got a good deal?

That's a fair price for the car. If you wait and find the right buyer probably make a few bucks later on. Don't expect it go up in value but I think the new edge cars are at their low points now.

Listen for a rod knock on first start up. These cars are sensitive to being low an oil and will spin a bearing pretty quick if run low. Motor's will run a long time if you keep oil in them. To be safe if you buy it change the oil right away and add 7 qts not the 6 the owners manual says.

If you want to verify vins, check of course the metal vin at the lower left corner of the dash in the windshield. Also, every body panel has a little vinyl vin sticker attached to it for part identification in the event of car theft and chop shop sales. Both fenders will have them located at the rear of the fender near the hood hinge where the fender bolts to the unibody apron. The quarters have the strips located on the inboard side where the water run off would be. The bumpers are located underneath where you won't see them and the doors are usually located underneath where you would have to lay on the ground and look up while the door was open. Just be careful since Craigs List has a lot of scams on it! You can also retrieve the vin from the seller and call the States DOT and verify ownership! Good Luck.
