Had no idea a third party facility was doing this, but makes for a good discussion.

That main bearing doesn't look great.

It does not. I can defend Motorcraft saying the tolerances could have been way off from day one of the build, Amsoil nor Motorcraft would have made any difference. However, look at the cleanliness difference of the internals from the Amsoil engine.

Does it state anywhere which type of each was used?

It does not, at this time, all I have is this photo. Trying to get more information on this.

Probably all because of the better NOACK rating.

Here is what I discovered. This is a promotional video from Amsoil. That being said, professionally, they chose not to include a slam on Motorcraft directly. While the display at their convention did, the video did not.

Nice info on the video, I wonder if the replaced filters more often than 25K and if the Motorcraft oil also went 25K.

Amsoil Signature Series lubricant and EaO oil filters were ran to 25K miles for the test. Since the trucks were only stopped to change the oil, the oil was in normal service to achieve this. I suggest that Signature be used for 15K miles or one year, which ever occur first, as I am conservative with the severe service schedule. In most cases, vehicles are in stop and go traffic, not on the interstate all year. However, for those who are driving long distances to work on the interstate daily, you can achieve 25K miles before the 1 year mark.

The testing facility likely changed Motorcraft every 10K miles on the other truck, keeping manufacturers recommendations. It would not have been a fair test expecting an inferior formulation to match Signatures abilities.

Amsoil had to be changed 4 times to achieve 100K miles, while Motorcraft would require 10 changes. In the real world, using Amsoil's severe service schedule, it would require 7 changes. This closes the gap.

Tried a few different oils in my GT500 starting when I bought it at 15k miles.

Since 25k miles, Ive used exclusively Amsoil Signature 5W50. I do prefer the Motorcraft filter, personal preference. Im even more anal than @UnleashedBeast as I change my oil at 5k miles. Period. Arguably the most critical part of my car, and I want only the BEST.

Not surprising

$10-$12/qt will be able to do things that $4-$5/qt simply can't. Most "avg" drivers never even change their own oil, let alone justifying such a $ premium.

Longtime Amsoil user here.
