I went to the local dealership and found some raptors. Being a car guy, it’s tough to gauge if this 60k mile raptor is abused or “normal.” I do also own a truck and it’s not quite this bad.

I also did a side by side comparison of Gen 1 vs Gen 2

Gen 2 is night and day better. Blows my mind how the Gen 1 is still holding onto its value.

Gen 1 doesn’t even look that aggressive anymore.

They are still cool trucks.

Also, half tons in general seem to hold their value pretty well.

I still laugh about the guys who thought their value would increase because the new ones didn't come with a V8.

There is a false sense of holding value now because of how rampant inflation has been in recent years. Just look at what loaded 1/2 tons cost new now compared to say 8 years ago. Recession, Bailouts, Inflation...in that order.

V6 blows it away. Nearly double the gas mileage, more tune ability and power and the A10 is epic shit.

6.2 was barely an improvement over the 5.4 which was basically junk.

Well when someone wants $55k for a 14 and a 18 is $65k....

Generally rule is thumb has been 40% of MSRP in 5 years.

Both generations were good trucks. The Gen II is obviously leaps and bounds better of a truck..but if it wasn't, then why change up the Gen I?

Gen1 doesn't sound like a moist duck fart when you drive it.

The sound doesn't bother me in the least. I haven't even thought about my Gen1 since I got my Gen2 and I was skeptical of the V6 before I bought it. I'm a believer now.

Only 13/14's I've seen that high have either been very good builds that would outrun stock Gen 2's in the dirt or some delusional owner with a low mile stock Gen 1.

General rule doesn't apply in this situation. It's still a highly sought after truck for attention grabbing and "offroading". They still offer practical purposes for family hauling and basic bed usage to boot.
Unless the truck is beat up, they don't last long on lots. Now as gas keeps rising you'll see their value dip when the owners can't afford to fill 36 gallon tanks at 4 bucks a gallon.

Gen 1 mileage was 11 city, 16 hwy.
Gen 2 mileage estimate is 15 city, 18 highway.

There is no nearly double improvement on MPG.
You mean nearly 50% improvement, on city?

The 6.2 was a solid rather bulletproof engine.
It may of been a dud in terms of adding more power but ford built it to last, which is why it was also in the super duty HD trucks.
Barely an improvement over the 5.4L, that made 310hp/365 trq?

Most times 411hp/434trq can get you into a lot of trouble on the dirt, even in a 3 ton tank.

@earico I would argue it's due to the interest in trucks as a luxury vehicle. 8 years ago trucks barely had the same shit they have now. Lane assist, blind spot, 360 cameras, auto park/brake etc worlds better interior, engines, etc.
You can still get almost the same bland interiors you found 8 or so years ago in the base to lower trimmed trucks at the 30-40k price mark. But no one wants a XL/XLT when their neighbor has a Limited or Raptor.

That is a good point. For the past 20 years trucks have evolved into mom/family vehicles instead of work/farm equipment. The price of fully loaded trucks (king ranch for example) has climbed significantly. Yes they now have more tech but so does your latest TV or even your appliances. Top of the line products have more tech than previous generations. That's a given. Most of the tech you're talking about is now in these trucks years after the tech was introduced in luxury lines such as Range Rover, Lexus and etc. Now the tech is more mainstream and cheaper to manufacture so it ends up in our 1/2 ton trucks. So yes all that drives the prices up some but I still say the majority of it is from inflation.

I drive past a Ford dealer every day back and forth from work. They have three new Raptors and 2 used gen 1's that have been sitting all summer. They are on the front line.

ive have seen low mile gen 2 raptors with higher asking prices than MSRP on a new one. Not sure why anyone would buy one used. In the $60k realm you may as well pony up for brand new.

Ive been having bad thoughts about selling the Hellcat and getting a Raptor. Just got back from Oregon and my cousin brought his 6.2 2012. He handed me the keys and I put about 40 miles on it and had a blast. He just installed a cutout just after the cats so it sounded great and had a good amount of power. Has about 80K miles on it and will be supercharging it this year. I am keeping the Hellcat but I can see myself getting one of these as well

I averaged 13.3 MPG in my 2012 for 5 years. So far my 2018 is averaging 16.3 MPG in the first year. Definitely not double...

I’ve seen tons of reviews averaging 10mpg in their Gen 1, my neighbor gets 11.2mpg.

I now know several Gen 2 owners getting 17mpg in their new trucks. That is an astronomical difference in fuel economy and is “damn near double”.

That’s $4,500 vs $2,600 per year in fuel usage.
