I'm wanting to upgrade my brakes on my car and not too sure what to go with. I only use it for drag racing at the track on occasion and a making a few hits out on the back roads.

Feedback on what you guys are running is what I am looking for along with suggestions.

Thanks!

When you do drag race do you have a set of rims for that? I think once you go with a big brake kit you can't run skinnies any more.

I'm running Roush Alcon brakes on my coupe. Requires a bigger rotor, thus I have to run an 18 inch rim. They work great, but I don't recommend them. Parts and replacement rotors are hard to come by. I only used them because I had an extra set of the brake kit and an extra set of Roush wheels.

I would say go with Bear or Wilwood although I have zero experience with either of them.

LOL, guess my post was of zero use to you now that I think about it. Sorry............

No, I currently do not. But thanks for bringing that up.

I have run the baer 6p set up on 13" eradispeed rotors. They worked well but I wanted more. I now run a 14" brembo gran turismo kit. This is a serious brake set up. When they are warm they will launch you through the wind shield. Need an 18" wheel for them.
A nice budget system would be a 00r set up. Still run a stock wheel with these.
There are many options to choose from from mild to wild. I wouldn't give my brakes up for another out of the box system

The bear 6p will also fit behind the stock wheel. I use these on my mach and they are great way better then stock brakes. If you already have 18inch wheels they also have a kit with a 14inch rotor

I'm testing out a new 14inch 4 piston willwood kit from FTBR right now. Have a video on my channel installing it. Have to break them in before I give a review and before they start selling the kit.

I've seen people post that the big brake kits 14" has slowed their quarter mile times down. FTBR actually steered me away from doing a 14" set up. It was overkill for my setup and he recommended the 2k cobra R setup. I ended up order the Baer 6P setup and will eventually run their 2 piece rotors.

Makes sense. I imagine those 14" rotors are fairly heavy.

This is true, a 14" set up is heavy. You can run a baer 6p or 00r kit in the 13" versions with a 2pc rotor, good pads and good fluid and have a nice set up that will fit behind 17" wheels and not weigh a ton.
All depends on what you want out of the car and your budget

I have the Baer 6p on 14" eradispeeds and they stop on a dime. I can't speak to the weight in comparison to the other big brake kits but these were substantially lighter than stock. If you order direct drom baer, they customize the color setup for you as well.

The Baer rotors are the way to go, and upgraded calipers are fantastic. No need at all for the 14" kits and larger rear rotors unless you just want more weight on your car.

Brembo calipers also work with these rotors, but the outer pad needs a slight modification (Brakes & Wheels):

look into the Baer deep stage kit and the wilwood dynapro drag race kit.
both kits use a .81 rotor which is fine on the street for your occasional hits.

everyone here is mentioning BIG brakes. you are drag racing and dont need those. yes the big brakes work but they have too much weight and with our pig heavy cobras, loosing as much weight as we can off the front end is extremely valuable.

both kits i mentioned have had cars in the 7's using them.
i made a thread asking almost this same question a while back and im going to go with the baers once the race season is over.
